Visually stunning adventure. Be warned that at times felt a bit over dramatic, but then there is a giant gorrilla on screen so that's kind of expected.

Peter Jackson's creation of the gorilla KONG in the re-make is absolutely superb. Naomi Watts is brilliant and her reactions to the creature and the relationship that develops is one of the great love stories. Don't expect realism. This is the story of a 50 foot gorilla who loves on a remote, fog enshrouded, island populated by weird natives and prehistoric creatures. So it's over-the-top but spectacularly so. Three and a half stars and an extra half for Kong ****.

The movie is about an hour too long. Could've done with more story movement and less CGI showcasing.

John.B has summed it up. The movie was all good until they reached the fog. Then it went completely over the top with computer manipulation and exaggerated effects to the point where once King Kong had her, I had to turn it off.

This is a beautiful shot and told film along the lines of a Beauty and the Beast story. Naomi Watts is wonderful as the female lead and heroine. Stolen by the beast in a primeval world, she miraculously survives and then uses her vaudeville skills to engage Kong. She stands up to Kong, a new experience for him and he becomes her protector. A bond is formed and Kong is awakened to the emotion of love. Later when Kong becomes the captive in the New York jungle, Anne does all she can do to save him, but the forces of humanity are as deadly as those in the jungle. Great to see such a strong female role.

Was enjoyable in its one way but desperately needed editing to reduce the length (3 hrs) - some scenes were self-indulgent/excessive in the context of the overall story.

Great fun to watch, even if it is a little long at 3hrs. Naomi Watts and the gorilla are the best actors in it.

Technically the shots were well composed but the film was long winded and preposterous. Some amazing moments but just too much heavy-handed twaddle to wade through.

Peter Jackson has a huge reputation to follow up after his classic adaption of the The Lord of the Rings movies. For anyone who is familar with the 1933 version of King Kong, you will certainly appreciate this version. It resembles that version with todays special effects. Naomi Watts puts in a very conviencing performance as the sweet heroin of the film. This a great family film and worthy of Peter Jackson's ability to make good solid films.

So much potential with some great special effects and bits of story developed, then completely wasted with action that had no credibility whatsoever. Sure movies are fantasy etc. but the seamless merging of reality and fantasy make them watchable. This movie just assumes the viewer is stupid and will accept any action no matter how impossible - people running under the feet of stampeding dinosaurs without any contact, give me a break. I repeat potential wasted. Don't watch it as it is so frustrating to see this waste.

Remakes of Hollywood classics can be spectacular - or not. With new technology the special effects in this Kong are excellent. I preferred the first half of the movie on the island. Kind of Starship troopers meets Juraissic Park. Whilst stretching the bounds of believability with some of the action, that is the genre so I just enjoyed it. Poor old Kong takes a hammering though. The scenes in NYC in winter were really good. Kong and the girl on the frozen lake in central park was really charming. Overall, an enjoyable movie, with some timeless themes about man's greed, and need to conquer all comers. And of course - beauty and the beast. Sad ending - I was rooting for the ape.

Special effects were great, the storyline was basically a carbon copy of the previous two king kong movies, good cast and still worth a watch even if you know whats going to happen at the end.

Well done if not too long in parts. The ending was too drawn out and could have been accomplished in 5 minutes but overall a great film. Special effects terrific.
