Moderate Coarse Language,Adult Humour

Director: Clayton Jacobson
Actors: Shane Jacobson, Eve Von Bibra, Ronald Jacobson, Bernard Derriman, David Michôd, Simon Scott, Damian Walshe-Howling

A knight in shining overalls. From the biggest festival to the smallest church social, Kenny Smyth delivers porta-loos to them all. Ignored and unappreciated, he is one of the cogs in society's machinery; a knight in shining overalls taking care of business with his faithful 'Splashdown' crew. Follow Kenny as he tackles every septic challenge that comes his way, culminating in a pilgrimage to that Mecca of waste management, the International Pumper and Cleaner Expo in Nashville Tennessee - or as Kenny affectionately calls it, "Poo HQ". With fly-on-the-wall honesty and wit, 'KENNY' lifts the lid on one of Australia's roughest diamonds as he juggles family tensions, fatherhood and sewage with charm, humour and unflinching dignity. "It takes a certain kind of person to do what I do... No-one's ever impressed; no-one's ever fascinated... If you're a fireman, all the kids will want to jump on the back of the truck and follow you to a fire. There's going to be no kids willing to do that with me. So, I don't do it to impress people - it's a job, it's my trade, and I actually think I'm pretty good at it." - Kenny Smyth Part philosopher, part comedian and all heart, KENNY is living proof that in sewage, like life, the best will always rise to the top.

A great comedy with real heartfelt drama. You either buy into it and love Kenny or you don't. I feel sorry for anyone coldhearted enough not to appreciate this Aussie classic.

A totally quirky and original mockumentary with gentle humour. However, whilst the central character is a unique characterisation I couldn't warm to him as he came across as a bit of a dill.

Fabulous little character piece. And a surprisingly gentle comedy, despite the scatological nature of some of the material. Well written and well thought out, it's definitely worth a look.

I actually went into this thinking it was a real life documentary. The writing is brilliant. Witty, funny and down to earth. Some of Kenny's one liners are priceless. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I laughed out loud and even cried a little.

Watched this on recommendation from a friend but could not see what was good about it. Turned it off half way through, couln't get the humour. It does not hold a candle to the Castle as far as character studies. I would recommend not to waste your time....

This is a fantastic Aussie film, full of typical Aussie humour. Fantastic acting, Shane Jacobsen is wonderful as the down-to-earth Kenny. Who would think a movie which is basically about s**t could be so funny. Definitely worth watching.

I was not too sure of this movie at first but as the movie moved along, it went from 2 stars, to 3 stars only to finish off with 4 stars. It is a funny movie with a lot of old Australian slang you rarely hear any more. Certainly some good laughs to have in the form of a docu-drama.

It wasn't until I saw Shayne highlighted as a comedian after Kenny aired that I realised he was an acor, and Kenny was a comedy film, not a documentary. Ftrankly, it weill long be considered as a classic mfilm, aired for decades to come. If yoiu have not seen it, do so now. I am very selective in what I see, and when I say that I have no hesitatioin in giving this film 5 stars, you know I am serious.

A "bog-umentary" about Kenny Smyth porta loo provider and plumber made in a way that could only be done somewhere like Australia, whereby Kenny, who plies his trade at local festivals, stock car races and of all places the Melbourne Cup, is somehow made endearing and someone whom we care about. The film wouldn't work otherwise. The fact that he takes pride in his work and is a genuinely nice guy are two key factors in the success of this film. The language is crude but real, the situations are ridiculously funny but believable and the relationships troubled but hopeful, well, except maybe between Kenny and his ex wife. I haven't laughed so hard since I can remember. A film that hits all its targets, so to speak. Great name for a company too, "Splashdown". Well with this film the Jacobson brothers have scored (dare I borrow the term) a touchdown.

Kenny is one of the best Aussie flicks ever made. It's clever creation of Kenny, a toilet installer, is just brilliant. Kenny is totally believable as a bloke who's trying to do the best by his son and the company he works for. He's totally likable and the way he sticks to what he values most is a real inspiration. Not only does the movie have a terrific message, it's also very, very funny with lots of classic lines. Similar in style to The Castle, this is a movie that is well worth viewing.

Some elements of the movie were exceptional...like the acting of Jacobsen and direction by his brother. It was so convincing I had to keep reminding myself it wasn't a real doco. However, whilst the humour included some very clever one-liners delivered deadpan by Jacobsen, the movie wasn't really my cuppa. My brother and father recommended it as the 'most hilarious thing they'd seen in years.' THAT alone shoulda been my tip-off! lol

This is a wonderful movie. I was a bit skeptical at first as it is done in doco style but it was more than worth the watch. Kenny is a warm and wonderful guy and you take to him right away. He is a simple guy with simple wants and needs and is proud to be a dunny man. He enjoys his work and takes pride in it and he should as it really is an important job if you think about it. It is a great family movie and very entertaining.

Well worth watching. kenny is beautifully played and is such heartfelt performance to boot. The theme of a man who does a job that vrtually nobody notices and everybody takes for granted and does so with pride is really interesting and important. It is also very funny.

Having heard SO much about this movie I probably expected a little too much. It's funny, but not the funniest thing I've ever seen. There are some great one-liners and Kenny's dad is probably the most Australian character ever to have been portrayed on celluloid. The Jacobson boys have definitely got writing talent, and some great insight into what makes people tick. I love the final scene: so deserved. We should all be as accepting as Kenny is of the world and people around us.

Great writing - in the laidback, sardonic Aussie style of "The Castle". Virtuoso performance of the Kenny character was excellent. Showed aspects of a hidden "underclass" that society needs but does not appreciate until you are threatened by its withdrawal - a bit like an aged care hostel (I would not want to see THAT movie!). Dragged a bit in some parts, but it was only 90 minutes long so that was tolerable. Happily enough, very few toilet jokes (of the schoolboy variety). I was glad the movie was not "smellavision" as you can imagine the smell in many of the scenes (and I dont mean that pejoratively). I liked the scene where Kenny obligingly opens and closes the toilet door rapidly to 'clear the air" for the next user. What a considerate fellow!

I had this movie for 2wks, trying to psyche myself up to watch it. Then I finally put it into the player, watched a few of the 'cuts' and just couldnt get into it - so ended up not watching it. I've heard great reviews from friends so some of you may enjoy it.

What a great movie, full of real life situations that would make you cry if you wernt laughing. Kenny is just trying to do his best in a job he is proud of. With a father who thinks he should get a proper job, and an ex-wife who likes to make life harder, Kenny does his best.

Not sure what to expect, not having read any previous reviews, was happily surprised that the format, once you got used to it, was really effective. Some great Aussie one-liners that I have never heard before but want to remember for later use myself! You really get to feel for Kenny though all of his "adventures" and misfortunes. I liked the documentary style, and found it light and extremely good Aussie comedy entertainment. Loved it!

A beautiful character study of a person and his chosen occupation. Many people willavoid the film if they find it is aboutthe portable toilet industry.there is lots of humour,an interesting Family situation but above all a look at the life of a man who values all Life deals out to him, heis a sensitive wonderful person

I guess this is the sort of movie you love or you hate. I didn't find it overly funny and it was VERY slow. I was really disappointed in this movie as I expected better based on the hype. Shane's portral of Kenny was good but the script was lacking and so was the humour or maybe I just don't like "Toilet" humour

Not really a movie in the normal meaning of that term. More like something you might see on 'Australian Story': 'this is my life' type of thing. But very Australian and true to life. Worth seeing.

This is not quite 4 stars- but what the hell. Patriotism or that special uniqueness that I get out of Australian movies. But it is good. Lots of laughs. One liners and sayings that I haven’t heard for decades. Very Aussie. Different. Almost poignant and touching in places. Loses momentum and then picks up again. What an effort for such a small team.

Why do we Aussies love toilet humour? I don't know, but we do and this movie has it all. Shane Jacobson is brilliant and the rest of the cast support him beautifully. I think the whole point is that we shouldn't take each other for granted or belittle people with jobs we haven't got the guts to do. Good on you, Kenny, for showing us the way! The exploration of family realtionships was well handled and there's even a bit of romance tactfully thrown in for the soft-hearted. I thoroughly enjoyed it but not everyone gets it if they expect a straight up entertaining story.

'Kenny' made me laugh so hard and long I needed a port-a-loo of my own. If you get the ultra-Aussie humour of Muriel's Wedding, you'll love this. You might need to translate a lot of the true Aussie slang used throughout, but it really makes the whole thing true to life. Much like an under-stated 'Kath & Kim'.
