I just adored this movie. It became an instant favourite, in fact one of my favourite movies of all time. The chemistry between Hugh Jackman and Meg Ryan is wonderful and there are some unforgettable scenes and funny and clever dialogue. Leopold's observations on modern society are also very thought-provoking. I watched it three times before I felt I really ought to send it back. The characters are so lively and likeable they are hard to leave. I could do with some 1876 myself and have now bought the video so I can keep watching it again and again, especially when I need cheering up! The Director's Cut version is definitely the best. Highly recommended.

It was the most loveliest and romantic movie in the world next to notebook, sommerby, somethings gotta give, shall we dance, and the rogers and hammersteins classics. Please put this at the top of your list, as it's worth it. It's even brilliant for sci fi kids. And also for guys. Good advice for guys too.

A gentle version of the usual formula - star-crossed lovers, separated by circumstance, a last-minute rush. Lots of gaps in the story but an enjoyable film, expecially if you're a Hugh Jackman fan like me!

A soft ending, but "time travel" stories often suffer this problem. Suffer Meg Ryan's predictable portrayal and lesser characters' superficial contributions for Hugh Jackman's Prince Leo performance. My wife rates it at 3 and 1/2.

Hugh Jackman is always great eye candy and this comedy has a certain charm, but overall it's a bit too formulaic and historical inaccuracy too overwhelming to make it a good night in.

The antics and misunderstandings of two people from two different centuries are great fun. The two main actors work beautifully together.

A nice romantic comedy with a twist, and a good dvd that offers both the theatrical and directors cut versions, deleted scenes and other features.
