Oscar nominees Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton star in Joyful Noise, a funny and inspirational story of music, hope, love and renewal. The small town of Pacashau, Georgia, has fallen on hard times, but the people are counting on the Divinity Church Choir to lift their spirits by winning the National Joyful Noise Competition. The choir has always known how to sing in harmony, but the discord between its two leading ladies now threatens to tear them apart. Their newly appointed director, Vi Rose Hill (Latifah), stubbornly wants to stick with their tried-and-true traditional style, while the fiery G.G. Sparrow (Parton) thinks tried-and-true translates to tired-and-old. Shaking things up even more is the arrival of G.G.'s rebellious grandson, Randy (Jeremy Jordan). Randy has an ear for music, but he also has an eye for Vi Rose's beautiful and talented daughter, Olivia (Keke Palmer), and the sparks between the two teenagers are causing even more heat between G.G. and Vi Rose. If these two strong-willed women can overcome their differences and find a common voice, they - and their choir - may make the most joyful noise of all.

With such a great cast, it was extremely disappointing that this film was just sooooo boring. Pity.

A little sad to see old Dolly trying so hard, but the music was good, Queen L is always excellent and while the rest of the cast struggled with a weak script they did a good job. Watch on a rainy afternoon if there is nothing else to do.

Actually didn't think this was so bad. Sure, a bit smaltzy but there were some light moments and a couple of heavier ones. Didn't mind the music. I'm a grumpy old atheist so if I can enjoy this movie I'm sure there are lots of others out there that can too. Just ignore the first three reviewers!

Total rubbish - every token thingy has been thrown in - and what's with Dolly Parton - she looks more like a Muppet.

Queen Latifa & Dolly Patron should be arrested for making such a film. Horrible music, storyline, badly cast and did I mention the horrible music.
