Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Good story, great acting - an overall pleasure. Read the subtitles listen to the Italian, you'll love it

A good premise well thought out and well executed, even the ending is well done, however I expected it to be much funnier. I found 'Vita e Bella' to be a better film. Still an amusing film from an excellent 'stable'.

If you're into slapstick foreign comedy then this one is definitely for you. Benigni's finest piece to date (apart from La vita e bella) full of quick witted one liners that will keep you laughing for hours. Set in Palermo, Sicilia - the storyline revolves around a look alike to a notorious mafioso, Johnny Stecchino (Johnny Toothpick - his trademark toothpick hanging out of the mouth). Without giving too much away, keep an eye out for the banana scene, you will have a cardiac, that is if you can read the subtitles fast enough. Which by the way is the only drawback for those that do not speak Italian, you'll have to be patient and read along, but don't let this put you off, as the translations are pretty much spot on. Obviously some things don't need translating....Benigni fills in that spot quite nicely. Sit back, relax and be prepared for a very hilarious time, a la Benigni....cookooroohooo Trust me, you'll know why!
