Didn't have much of a clue what was going on but had fun with this one. Locations and special effects were pretty good. I liked the ntroduction to John Carter scenes best. Great to see Bryan Cranston, albeit, briefly.
This is a great movie for the fans of CGI sci fi. Those unfamiliar with the John carter character from the original comics will be a bit lost on the concepts of the world initially but as the story plays out, you catch on.
Visual tour de force let down by the poor story telling.
I just LOVE Sci-Fi and this one was brilliant! Great effects and acting - really interesting story-line, in my opinion this is a must-see. Steve
All of the budget appears to have been used up on CGI and art direction. Short changed on screenplay and casting. Agree with Johnson. Its a very average sc-fi. Two and a half stars if you're over 18. 3.5 stars if you're a boy aged 11 to 14.
my hubby loved it and wanted to watch it again but sadly I had already closed it to return it.
I'd expected a great deal from this (an entertaining director plus a well-worn and loved story)... but it pretty much fell flat. Disjointed scenes, far too many protagonists, and a male lead about as exciting as John Howard at a book reading. I'm not sure how it went so wrong, and why Disney didn't see the train wreck coming. Average sci-fi, sadly.
