You'll never close your eyes again! The first remake of the paranoid infiltration classic moves the setting for the invasion from a small town to the city of San Fransisco and starts as Matthew Bennell notices that several of his friends are complaining that their close relatives are in some way different. When questioned later they themselves seem changed as they deny everything or make lame excuses. As the invaders increase in number they become more open and Bennell, who has by now witnessed an attempted replacement realises that he and his friends must escape or suffer the same fate. But who can he trust to help him and who has already been snatched.

A cool premise makes for a potentially cool movie, but how it gets executed is very important and this film needed to improve on that. The film takes far too long to become interesting, and when it does it has difficulty maintaining it as a result of poor editing, pace and lighting. All of these factors are vital in the making of a motion picture and these issues make it a bit more difficult to enjoy. It's still a likable movie, but I definitely don't expect it to be the essential Body Snatchers movie. Quickflix needs to get around to putting the original version from the 50s on this site.

I've seen three versions of this. The original is great and this one is the better of the two remakes. It stars top movie actors like Jeff Goldblum who has done at least 5 Sci-Fi's I can remember (one a comedy Sci-Fi) and Donald Sutherland who I can remember in one other Sci-Fi that also had alien parisites that took over humans. I've seen this version so long ago that I only remembered 5 minutes of scenes, especially the one with the raving man at Sutherland's windshield in traffic who was played by the male lead from the original version of this flick. This movie is best viewed at night in my opinion. It has plenty of scary bits that take place at night and heaps of on-the-chair-edge suspense. I highly recommend it.

Looking dated to todays standards but still very enjoyable. Good cast with Sutherland and Goldblum in their earlier days. Well worth a watch if you like sci-fi horrors.
