This was a good movie, George Clooney always plays a good part.
Still fresh and funny 9 years on. You could watch this now and think it was a new release. Such is the talent of the Coen Bros. It's lightweight but subtley done, as someone said "like a Carey Grant movie". Clooney can take a lot of the credit for this turning out so well but all the other actors were also well cast. Billy Bob and Geoffrey Rush in cameo roles were brilliant, and Zeta-Jones was the "Perfect Wife". A great watch and one for the library and good to see people still watching it.
One of George Clooney's best movies! He demonstrates a great comic timing I hadn't seen in him before. Katherine Zeta is also utterly watchable and their chemistry really makes this a classic Coen.
Light weight Cohn brothers script. Actually expected that ending.
Joel needs his brother! This movie is rather bad.
Not a bad George Clooney film. A little bit slapstick but enjoyable
Not your typical romance and i couldn't tell how it would end. Great actors and great storyline too.
I loved this movie - Brilliant, dynamic and very clever - A must see!
I did not like this movie at all - I chose it because it had an all-star cast but I couldn't get through more than the 1st 20 minutes of it as the plot
Very different role for Clooney but he plays it well.
CZJ is as delectable as ever...
Definately worth a view.
The Coen Bros have done it again!
Thought this would be a chick flick categorised by the likes of Meg Ryan and Sandra Bullock, but it was far more sophisticated and scattered with belly-laughs, which I must admit I wasn't expecting.
The script was great, the wardrobe enviable and the acting from all and sundry flawless.
George Clooney is great eye candy and a modern day Cary Grant; perhaps a Sean Connery in the making... the older he gets, the better he gets (acting and charm).
Definitely recommended.
Intolerable Cruelty (2003) Got off to a great start promising a great comedy but fell then faded to a tired and predictable finish. George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones are a great team making this film worth it but not great .
2 stars.
Nice movie - bit of fun, George Clooney is good to look at regardless of what he is actually doing. Not earthshattering but worth a look.
great opening credits. All down hill from there. Stupid American slapstick.
A "B" grade story of family litigation -- attempted comedy carried off only by the several star actors recruited - why did they waste their talents?
Nothing really great about the movie! Quite an ordinary story line and told in the normal way. So, yeah, its watchable.
It's ok. It's one of those movies you can watch but wouldn't beat down the door to get it.
Wickedly funny, lovely twist. Zeta Jones is wonderful and George Clooney is terrific. All in all a wonderful watch and one of those movies you can see over and over and not tire of!
I'm afraid I just couldn't "get into" this movie. It seemed to go back and forth and I just lost the jist of the movie.
Disappointing and mostly predictable.
The problem with this movie is that the characters are more caricatures. There is no depth, you feel no empathy. There were some funny moments, but I prefer to laugh at reality rather than attempts at slapstick (?) that just aren't funny. A film that attempts this and does it brilliantly is 'O Brother, Where Art Though' Catherine Zeta Jones is a dud.
fantastic plot, great actors wel suited to each other
Not really my cup of tea. Had its moments.
Some interesting twists and enjoyable style of humour
Nice twists and some good humour.
It was ok but still prefer George Clooney when he was in ER.
I love George, but I fell asleep twice.
An entertaining movie with a couple of nice twists
Clooney is a poor clown and Zeta Jones is not very likeable. Not bad but not a first choice.
Did the Coen brothers just wake up one morning and decide to have a go at romantic comedy? I wasn't sure about this one initially as it's very different to the Coen's previous films but it is absolutely brilliant. The cast are perfect and Catherine Zeta Jones and George Clooney have plenty of chemistry. The script is well written with enough twists to keep things interesting and the Coens' as always have an interesting set of bit players filled with famous actors. One of the best romantic comedies in years.
The first misstep by the Coen brothers. Charming leads and lavish staging but little humour and nothing to think about.
Thought it would be better, but still better than most of the dross in there.
I could not even be bothered to watch the whole movie. I found it pathetic.
Didn't think it would as funny as it was. Love George Clooney.
Not bad for a Sunday arvo movie.
I turned this off wihtin the first 30 minutes. Wouldn't waste my time on something that is not entertaining.
If you can sit through the first half, the second half seems to have a point.
Unfortunately, I'd seen this one. I hate it when that happens. Film does not really offer much in order for me to recommend it - it's passable entertainment but I think you'd be better doing something else with 90minutes.
Lighthearted and enjoyable.
That's 100 minutes I'll never get back!!
I couldn't get 'into' this movie. It wasn't rivetting enough to want to see it in one sitting. Took me 3 sittings to see it to the end. Wasn't bad, but I've seen better.
An easy to watch enjoyable movie
A hilarious romantic comedy about men, women, and everything that can go wrong between them. Really worth watching.
Average movie unfortunatley little spark between stars
Worth seeing to look at George Clooney. Geoffrey Rush is excellent in his small part. Quite clever in parts as George and Catherine try to upstage each other.
Brilliant. I could watch it again and again. And I did!
Clever storyline, shame about how bad they made it.
This movie wasn't bad, but not quite up to the usual standard of the Coens. It seems they are better at drama than such comedy: having said that, there are some some very funny scenes and it is definitely worth seeing.
Witty dialogue, great storyline and a fantastic cast. An absolute classic movie.
The movies was good, however a bit strange and hard to follow in some parts.
This film is full of witty one liners. Very enjoyable and funny.
Not up to the usual Coen Bros standard but well worth the look all the same.
This wasn't as great as many people told me it was. In fact, It could be a missing LA Law script that the Cohen's decided to fill in some time with.
A terrific movie, played firmly tongue-in-cheek by Clooney and Zeta-Jones, and very funny.
The kooky Coen brothers strike again! Although, this time it is with a toned down humour, with very little to be politicaly incorrect about. George Clooney lights up the screen and Catherine Zeta Jones acting ability shines in the odd material. Geoffrey Rush has the be the highlight of the film. Not the Coens best, but no bodys perfect.
Pretty predictable and boring. Clooney and Zeta-Jones only reduce their asking price with their efforts here. Coen Bros films normally pretty good but this one is only entertainment if you don't want to think too much.
A really enjoyable movie.
Enjoyable light comedy. George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones make a good team.
Really good chemistry between Catherine and George! Nothing to serious but a bit of fun for a Friday night. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
The two words "romantic" and "comedy", when applied to any film, is usually enough to put any bloke off a film. However, when it's a Coen brothers film, rather than the usual cringing American schmaltz you get a sharp, snappy, witty and very funny film. The two lead performances by George Clooney and Catherine Welsh-tart are pure parodies of themselves, the plot twists along, and the dialog is superb. Blokes should not be put off!
clooney took getting used to in this one, not a fan of zeta-jones on the whole and this certainly did not win me over. some good bits in it, but not enough to carry it on the whole.
I thought this movie was great - very witty, well paced & highly amusing. Great chemistry between Clooney & Catherine. Not the usual Coen brothers fare but their influence is obvious. Loved it!
Ok if you like the dull, boring and predictable types. Definitely glad I dedn't pay to see it at the cinema!
Stupid and boring - not what I expected.
Predictable..OK..if there's nothing else to watch.
Better than watching nothing.
If you are after a great Coen Brother's movie then rent Fargo. Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney are easy on the eye and true to type. Predictable!
A little nutty, and admitedly a wee bit disappointing considering the cast, but light, funny, quick witted and brilliant acting.
This movie was pretty bad.
A great easy to watch movie a must for Catherine Zeta Jones fans !
Very disappointed in this movie, was expecting it to get better but it never did!
Not as good as I was expecting, but worth watching if you are a fan of the Coen brothers or that brand of comedy.
Great watching, good humour too...
Clooney is admirable as a Cary Grant attempt, but doesn't quite succeed.
