Good fast moving movie with surprising twists.
Worth a watch..... be warned you have to pay attention though - not a leisurly watch. Entertaining non the less, not the most gripping movie I've ever seen but three stars.
I liked this movie, but it was a bit slow at times.... Then suddenly the ouzi fighting scene did not seem to fit with the 'cloak and dagger' rest of the moive...
The story o(of conspiracy of banks fueling the weapon trade) is very believable. How the movie is exposing this.. I'd rather would have seen a blood diamond/Lord o' war angle to it....
Nevermind I was entertained enough to watch it to the end and wondering what would happen next....
International financiars go to extremes to turn a profit. A pretty good action thriller that manages to blend third world topicality with the shady world of arms dealing and financing. Manages to stay within the realms of possibility despite the somewhat over the top action scenes. 3.5 stars
It's a bit like watching Clive Owen in Duplicity, but this is an enjoyable, action-packed and intruiging movie. The shoot-out in the Guggenheim is pretty spectacular and had us wondering how much of that was CGI or real. Worth watching.
I guess gripping, edge of the seat thriller pretty hard to make... Clive Owen and Naomi Watts are likeable actors and there are a few exciting scenes but this film is pretty flawed. It seemed like it was based on a book, with scenes that may have added something to a novel that were totally unnecessary for the film's development. Then there are other moments where, to speed up the plot, Clive uncovers vital information so quickly that you think he must have super powers. And really, the concept behind the plot is absurd. Definitely only 3-star, maybe even only 2 or 2.5...
This had the potential to be an exciting, action-packed movie. The script was tedious and served to considerably slow the action. Naomi Watts was obviously reading a script and lacked substance and credibility. Clive Owen was plausible as the obsessed (although somewhat naive) Interpol agent. With regard to filming, there was an opportunity to take full advantage of the sophisticated and exotic locations that was not fully utilised.
Probably solid, rather than great, action with very attractive leads. I was very entertained though.
good plot, not a movie you watch again and again good acting and action.
Was o.k. but I read for most of the movie so it couldn't have been very enthralling.
Had the potential to be a good movie but the plot doesn't seem to grab you at all.
I was watching this movie feeling it was close to finishing only to realise I had to sit through another half hour.
Some good action makes it average at best.
a solid action/ thriller movie. Enjoyed every step of the way.
It started to be an interesting movie and we were looking forward to watching. However, in the middle the whole picutre just pixilated something terrible. We had to forward and miss about six chapters to try and catch up with the rest of the story.Unable to rate it as we could not see the whole movie.
Enjoyed this movie, plenty happening .
I seldom fall asleep in movies, but I fell asleep in this one ... twice ... Bit dull, not enough action or tension to keep me interested. I normally love Clive Owen and Naomi Watts, but this film left me wanting something more ...
This movie is just "too busy". There are too many characters in it, and I got lost. I did not even watch the end, although I would have liked to have known who killed the character at the beginning, which I gather was what the movie was about.
Couldn't even watch this. Had to turn it off. It was so boring.
I thought this movie was really boring. There was no inspiration to care about any of the characters, I didn't care about the mission they were on, it was not emotive at all. I couldnt even watch it to the end. Would not recommend it all.
for the most part it is a good thriller, although a little confusing at times, but the ending just leaves you flat!.. its like they ran out of tape so they quickly finished it off with news headlines! seemed like a whole lot of action for a nothing ending.
i wouldn't be holding my breath to see it.
The best movie I saw in 2009..thought provoking with a plot that resonates in the times of our global financial crisis ... and well acted by Clive Owen + Naomi Watts. She has come such a long way from her role in "the Brides of Christ" series on the ABC.
As a girl I found this movie unineteresting but the boys in the family loved it. Best movie they have seen in ages with an interesting plot and lots of action
I never really got into this movie, it was really hard to follow and i don't think i even watched it to the end and got sick of it half way through and turned it off. Even though there was a story line there which i'm not sure what it is exactly, trying to keep myself entertained to watch it was the most difficult part, it was boring and the excitment didn't happen entil the end which is difficult to stay watching something that doesn't interest you to watch. This movie is for people who are interested in movies like Munich which are very internation and have internation regocnition and understand things that happen over seas especially politics and democracy. People who like political issues would rather enjoy and be able to endure this movie.
Not for me i'm affraid, i need something with more power and attraction to keep me entertained.
Not a great movie, but watchable.
Well made, well acted and well scripted movie. It was good, but not great. I think I've seen too many movies like this one.
Very well written and Clive Owen played his role to almost a "T". A few parts were slow, but you got to put up with that in a good storyline.
Well worth watching
Good action movie and a very intreging plot, sometimes it didn't make sense. Kept you guessing where the movie was going next.
boring, lost interest in it.
The title is okay.
A disappointing movie with a weak storyline. Acting was okay but movie spoilt by contrived story.
A bit slow and quite long for the end result - could have been 45mins shorter which might have improved the movie.
Thrilling, well acted film.
an alright movie but not the best movie i have seen, with a good cast including clive owen and noami watts which a great but this has the worst ending i have just seen. some things don't work out but an alright film to watch if you are action/thriller fan.
just could not get into it
Brilliantly complicated. Loved it
Top movie well worth the watch recommended...
Meant to be an intense thriller but I did not find it frightening or with much tension. Something lacking about the music, about it not being
that noticeable throughout the movie. Even though it had promising title music. Shallow characters. Not much of a variation from the many films of this genre.
Also the fact that Naomi Watts repeats some of the same words she says in this movie as an entirely different character in Tank Girl. That makes me wonder if the actors
are speaking from themselves instead of character in some trademark pattern of speech - or sly endorsement of previous roles.
Or something in the realm of cameo roles, yet featuring lines. Not up to much. Not much integrity to the script. Thus no grip.
A topic probably better jumped on by the likes of Michael Moore, as the vague "IMF buys weapons" excuse fell flat at the outset. This extreme violation of commercial enterprise is not explained beyond "we need to stop arms dealers" and so the storyline is stripped and we're down to arresting one guy. The attempted upsurge afterwards is just a short chase scene. PS: Clive was brooding again.
The concept of the IMF and intercountry debt arrangements offers huge scope and potential plots of huge scale corruption - yet even the slice of the UN in The Interpreter exhibited more expansiveness than the large glass buildings The International used to illustrate a global nefarious network. PPS: Much respect to a hitman overcoming his disability.
OK thriller, nothing particularly stands out in this movie.
much too long. there isn't much to keep your attention. not much of a thriller really.
Great movie if your looking for something to help you sleep !!! its a better alternitive to sleeping pills (arhzzzz) boring very very boring !!!!
long movie and you will need to concentrate to work out whats going on.
Politico Thriller, not the perfect movie still good enough to keep you watching. The plot itself isn't very interesting but the acting is good and the pace quite excellent. Wasn't sure I was going to enjoy and finally enjoyed it. I liked the end through the credits, interesting way to finish the movie and for once, not the usual happy end. Go for it!
True to its title, this is a very international movie, with actors from and action in locations around the world. Faithful to its "thriller" genre, it keeps you guessing as to where it's going and what's going to happen. Fortunately there's no time to reflect on whether it makes any sense - and much of it doesn't. But despite a 2 hour length, it seems a shame when it ends and it's not really the end of the story.
