Oh alas! This film had such a good concept, but it failed miserably to hit the mark. Even for a PG children's flick, it lacked character development, a good storyline and engaging acting. I cannot understand the good reviews, for "Inkheart" really fell flat. A disappointment indeed. 1 star.

I like Brendon Fraser as an actor and this movie is another great one for him. Touching, action packed and a definite side step from reality. All the family enjoyed it but for different reasons.

Now I adore Brendan Fraser, but he was just cruising through this one and seemed a bit disinterested in his role. Paul Bettany was marvellous as usual - terrific actor, just wonderful to watch. Entertaining enough in a dullish kind of way - not one to watch again though (unless it's for Paul's performance).

My partner had read the book and thought this was a reasonable adaptation, with the usual gaps when transferring from print to screen. She thought the characters were pretty spot on. It's better than a lot of Brendan Fraser's work - although his resume just seems to read "appeared in family/adventure films", because we don't see him in anything else. Maybe that's a good thing.

Loved it. Had never read the books, and I think that may have added to my enjoyment. Thought Brendan Fraser was wrong for his role, but all others were very well cast. Very interesting and engaging concept that left me wanting more.

A safe family adventure film, with some very good moments. Brendan Fraser is becoming the go-to-guy for family oriented adventure films. Andy Serkis mugs for the camera so much it looks like he's doing an impression of him doing an impression of Gollum from the Lord of the Rings. All in all, not bad if you're a fan of the books but will test the adults who are not fans.

Our whole family enjoyed this one though the young ones missed the story line. If you enjoy fantasy movies 'Never Ending Story', 'Lion, Witch and The Wardrobe' (though not as good as these) you will enjoy this movie. Maybe not Brendon Fraser's best work but would recommend it for a good evening viewing.

Even though I love Brendan Fraser in most of his films but there are a few you kind of think to yourself what was he thinking when he applied to do this role, this is one of them. Although there is a good story line and the ideas are there but the acting and the actual film itself is a teenager or child movie and not much for the adults but to say yes i have seen this movie. It is something the children love to watch with mythical creatures, villians, animals and magic but not a movie for the adults.

THis movie was much better than I thought. I thought it was going to be a childish movie, but it was really well directed and the CGI effects were really really good, especially at the end with the "shadow". Great and unique story.

i don't know why this movie was well received and lasted at the movies for only a few days- it is based on a children's book which I haven't read so I don't know how true it is to that. i really enjoyed it. It's a fun fantasy movie, which is visually great I recommend giving it a viewing if you like this type of genre
