Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organises a group of Jewish American soldiers to perform swift, shocking acts of retribution. Later known to their enemy as The Basterds, Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of the Third Reich. If you like Tarantino more of the same - ultraviolence chic, no coherent plot, just a series of setups. He doesn't make films he makes video clips, despite his homage to filmakers he admires. this particular assortment is odious as it achieves the difficult task of making the SS look good compared to the Basterds. I know its meant to be a fantasy and joke but maybe the subject matter is no laughing matter. How much of the gun violence in America is not due to death metal, violent video games, or Marilyn Manson but to mainstream Tarantino?

Good film although it was getting a little slow towards the middle but it picked up really fast. The scenes with Brad Pit are by far the better ones!

Brilliant, absurd, and often hillarious WW2 fantasy about Nazis, Jews, and um... the German movie industry. Tarrantino's script and direction are masterful, the performances are superb, and Brad Pitt looks and sounds great with a ridiculous accent and a silly moustache. But the film really belongs to Christoph Waltz, whose Nazi character is so despicably evil you'll want to boo the telly whenever he's on screen. Good wholesome fun for all the family... not!

Superb acting and masterly direction , this film flows and brims with anticipation throughout. However, the improbable and slightly prococative theme as well as the depiction of gratuitous violence marked it down, in my opinion.

I have read a few bad reviews, but thought I'd give it a go. I enjoyed pulp fiction and true romance, but not the kill bills. So fairly neutral on Quentin. I really enjoyed this. This is a fun film if you don't take it seriously (and don't mind the graphic violence in some scenes). It's a twist on history, but it's not meant to be a documentary so its ok. I wasn't overly happy about the end for some of the characters, but still enjoyed the film overall.

Typical Tarantino and you either love it or hate it. In my case, I mostly love his movies and this one is good though not as good as his other masterpieces like Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. All in all, unique movie as per usual Tarantino style with witty dialogues, smart plot and storylines and good castings.

This is a great movie that keeps one engrossed for all of it's 153 minutes. On BluRay the picture, and especially the sound, is just spectacular. It has great characters. Christoph Waltz gives a brilliant performance as the Nazi Colonel Hans Landa. Brad Pitt fans might be little disappointed tho, as his role is not as dominant as I expected it would be. The films main drawback is that about half is spoken in French and German. It would have been much better if we didn't have to try and watch the action while trying to read what's being said- and you do have to read quickly since the subs change very rapidly. The plot is often implausible, especially the ending. The strength of the film is in it's strong characters and their interactions, and great visuals. It's presented in five parts with the title for each part appearing on the screen. All in all a great movie from a brilliant director- if you can overlook or don't mind the subs and occasional bad language, and of course the graphic violence which is integral to it. There are no sex scenes except for one lasting literally only a few seconds!

Much better if this film was left unmade. It is of no credit to the director and actors, and the industry and society that produced it. Obscene, sickening, mindless, puerile, amateurish, rubbish.
