I had been wanting to watch this for a long time and was delighted to finally see this film in its entirety having been to many talks on this subject. I found it to be very informative
This movie exposed large gaps in my current affairs knowledge. I am glad I watched it to hear Al Gore and see what he is, rather than the few scraps that had previously come across my consciousness when he was running for office. I admire his zeal for the cause and the effort he makes to educate the masses.
More "documentary" that I expected, but eye opening and attention grabbing.... It's certainly made me think about a few things... Bit too much political pitch in it for me, much prefer hard facts, but I guess I should have expected that with Al Gore really.... but as I say, very interesting all the same. Worth a watch, not boring, definitely grasped me
Good if you like Big brother propaganda films
The Latest in a long line of Scams run by Elite Bankers
"Excellent". "Everyone should see it". Truly eye opening". All of that. I liked Al Gore's humour, his presentation style, and his commitment to what he was saying. He has researched this stuff, made it his life's work and he is obviously passionate about it.
It does beg the question what the 2000s would have looked like without Dubya.
Opens your eyes to a few things the media are not really telling you.
Good if you like politics
An excellent movie, and yes everyone should see this...
30 years ago I worked for GreenPeace, and now these organisations are even more needed.
All Gore has made a start but we all need to be involved. By us talking to others about it, and change our ways, so we dont produce more CO2!! We took only 100 or so years to practically destroy God's work. We better fix it, before He will!
Explains what global warming actually is the research that supports that this is real. Don't switch on another household appliance or take that glass of water for granted again until you see this. Whatever your views - this is a must see for every Earthling.
People need to know this stuff is real.
This doco was not as I expected yet still a real eye opener. Al Gore managed to engage you and simplify all the garble that many use in this 'debate'. Certainly something I will be ensuring the children watch in the years to come.
please every one let me remind you that this has holes in it, the earth is getting warmer yes, but study shows that other planets are getting warmer aswell, also if you havent heard of the oregan partition (i think its the oregoan partition) please look it up, its a partition signed by many scientists that claim that some proof of global warming is fabricated, and many of these people had to sacrifice there jobs as they were fired or silenced for oposing "the inconveniant truth" and al gore. al gore is a real hero he does care about the earth, what he doesnt mention is that to stop global warming 80 percent of worlds population needs to perish.. please consider this.
This is a great but scarey movie. Everyone should have to see it.
Global warming is so serious.
Brilliant movie. Perhaps our politicians (someone named Tony in particular) should be made to sit down and watch this. Al Gore demonsrates the clear evidence of the detrimental impact we are having on this earth.
He hit the nail on the head when he explained that if something happens gradually, people are quite ignorant of it and think it will sort itself out. If we don't make an effort to change the way we are living then our lives and our descendants lives will be greatly affected - for the worse.
This movie strengthened my convictions to adjust my habits and my lifestyle to ensure minimum impact on my environment, and even made the message in Avatar (the movie) more poignant and relevant.
This movie is all hype, fear and science for hire. Gore is a conman and the concept of man made global warming is a fraud.
Some interesting data in Al Gore's scare-fest, but I think we get the idea. This returned to my review section despite me watching and reviewing it in June 2007. This is due to a glitch with Quickflix.
A lot of the facts stated in this movie I had already heard so the movie didn't have the impact of someone who saw the movie when it first came out. I enjoyed it though and thought Al Gore was a very good presenter and public speaker. If what he presented is true, and other scientist's reports of the planet's doom is true, then Earth will be a sorry place to be in 50 years time unfortunately.
I also think everyone on Earth should see this doco. It's excellent, and the best thing - it shows how we can (as in right now) eliminate carbon emissions and stop climate change.
OK but a little slow in places
Everybody should see this movie. It's one mans trek to try and change things for the better. But he can't do it alone, it's a global problem that needs global awareness, and that is what he has done, is make everyone aware.
Very eye opening - something everyone needs to see.
Compelling viewing and worth watching.
This doco really opens your eyes and makes you think about what you can do to help the planet. Highly recommended!
Terrific film, what a gifted communicator Gore is. Gets the rather startling science across while charming and entertaining us all the way, inspirational..
Must see movie for everybody, every age, everywhere! Global warming is here and we need to understand the consequences. Gripping, awesome and disturbing information. This should be viewed in schools, town halls, church halls, etc. We need to wake up to what is happening our world before it's too late!
Gore is a bore but the information is truly scary!
Alright if you want to know more about global warming but I fell asleep 30 mins of this movie and didnt bother trying to watch it again!
Presented in an easy to understand way, this movie illustrates the facts behind global warming. It is not without humour and Al Gore is an engaging and well prepared speaker.
Very enlightening documentary. If you want to learn about global warming I'd recommend watching this DVD.
Scarier than any horror movie, this is a must-see whether u are a skeptic or not. Well presented with all the facts put out there and solid evidence shown to back up what Gore says; plus humour added to make the message come across to the audience in a not-so harsh tone. This is an A-grade documentary.
Captivating documentry on Humans and the world. I real eye opener on the impact of humans on the world. This is one everyone should watch and have a good think on. The information is challenging although some of the conclusions are a bit one sided - still a fairly factual presentation.
Great watching the world collapse slowly..nobody cares anyway..no oil..no power..no heat..no people..thats the solution..a don't miss movie
Excellent. Al Gore has performed a great service for humanity. Clear, concise, fascinating - and galvinising! Everyone, of any age, should see this film.
We need to wake up and do something. Start in any possible way.
This movie distils the issue of Global Warming and Climate Change into a concise message of why CO2 missions must be curbed now! A must watch for every consumer oriented human on the planet!
excellent, more than informative ,well narrated, well produced the whole thing was awesome and frightening
Ir was very interesring listening to Al Gore,The points he was putting across were vey thought provoking, and there seems to be a lot truth in what he is saying. Maybe we shoild all sit up and listen.
A Great look into what is happening in the world-more to do with America than Australia though. Easy to understand, not spoken in scientific language. I enjoyed it!!
interesting, and certainly an eye opener. if for some silly reason you didn't 'believe' the world was getting warmer this film would change your mind
A must watch movie for everyone. A trifle long to watch in one stint but thought provoking and one needs to follow through.
Everyone should watch this to get an understanding of the collective and immediate need of Global Warming. Give your opinions some scientific backing
Wow! No wonder there's been so much fuss about this powerful film. It's great. By now, of course, we've all been given massive amounts of information about global warming, but Gore's presentation is excellent. Thankyou.
This is an impressive docudrama which presses home its author's viewpoint with vigour. If you believe it you are left terrified. Its problem is that it omits presenting any contrary scientific view, and so it becomes just another political polemic.
Dodgy science presented very slickly. I particualy liked the massive graph with no axis or scales on it which "proved everything". Watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle" as well and then make your mind up. Don't just follow the heard.
Has some very good points about climate change and global warming, but is seriously tainted by blatant politicing and self promotion by Al Gore. It detracts from the authenticity of the claims.
Every politician should see this. Even if Gore has avoided some of the more controversial aspects of global warming, this film still contains some hard data and inarguable facts.
A very informative and well presented documentary!!
Interesting.
I ordered this thinking it was an actual movie, but the doco ended up being informative, a bit of a learning lesson and a good watch.
Would be great as a School viewing for the kids.
I understand how some people could view this movie as an 'Al Gore for president' campaign trailer however, to be sceptical about the whole issue of global warming is ridiculous. Do you people live in an airtight container under the sea ? (if you did, you'd probably notice the water temperature increasing).
Melting polar ice-caps and million year-old glaciers, extreme drought, severe hurricanes all as a result of reduced rainforests and increased carbon emmisions.......and some people believe it's fiction ! C'mon !!
At one level, this was a "lecture with Powerpoint". The challenge of presenting this on screen was met superbly, and the critical importance of the subject ensured that this was compelling watching.
This film should be seen by everyone, in particular every politician in every country irrespective of their political persuasion, every corporate mogul, every school child and university student, every parent, every grand parent. For all the fantastic brains in this wonderful world of ours, we are still so stupid as to not take notice of what is happening around us. In spite of all the incredible advances made by man we do not take enough consideration to counteract the adverse outcomes of our so called progress. Wake up world, its now or never.
Superb, thought-provoking, a call to action by each one of us. Some may doubt the information, but it has now been reiterated by the Nobel Prize scientists and by the United Nations. A film everyone should see.
No matter what said of the fence you are in relation to this topic, there are some very compelling pieces of evidence put forward. The disappearing glaciers are just one of them.
If you watch this dvd, then make sure you also watch the update in the special features.
This movie is a MUST SEE for anyone who is concerned about our planet. Especially if you want to have something left for your children. It was entertaining and informative. Special features is also a must after viewing the main part.
This movie is a MUST SEE for EVERY person who breaths in air! It is one of the most fascinating and scary documentaries I've ever seen. Before this movie I knew that there was such a thing as global warming and the general idea on the matter but this filled in all the blanks and more. My 6yr old couldn't take his eyes of the screen and just soaked up the information given and shown on this dvd. Watch this movie - better yet, buy this movie. If you don't care about the future you will after this!!
If you want another eye opener, get "The Great Global Warming Swindle", also available here on Quikflix.
The sky isn't falling, chicken little.
A compelling insight into the environmental disaster facing the planet if attitude and actions are not reassessed. Delivered with both weight and humour, anyone can get an insight into the greatest environmental disasters facing the modern world. Something everyone should take a look at.
Everyone should watch this!
Everyone should watch this!
If you watch this documentary and still think humankind isn't causing global warming or that global warming is a myth, you're in denial. An excellently presented and easy to understand documentary.
This film should be compulsory viewing in all schools though our children are not the ones who need educating. An educated exposure of global warming - no spin! - with unadulterated facts presented in a simple way. Al Gore's message is simple - we must act now if in fact it is not too late.
Absolutely excellent recommend it to everyone
A real eye opener - it really makes you think twice.
Excellent, we have watched it twice. People must sit up and take notice. My husband just retuned from Antartica, it is all there to be seen in front of your eyes. I would like to buy the DVD for our children and grand children.
Good movie, not too overwhelming factual to be boring (otherwise you would feel like you were sitting in a Uni lecture hall), can't deny the photographs Gore shows. Not to be missed, we all leave a footprint on the earth in some way, big industries being the worst offenders.
Everybody should see this movie, if only to become informed about the future situation of our planet. You can then make up your own mind as to how much is fact or fiction, depending on your own point of view and knowledge and awareness of the problems confronting the world in this area.
Very bad on lots of levels. Badly made, more a blurb about Al - who basically is annoyed about missing out on Presidency [and maybe rightly so !] Incorrect info - totally dumbed down. Really bad !!
Definitely a bit of a yawn. A few interesting facts. Maybe I saw after all the hype and interest had already been splashed around the general media.
Of great interest. A must see for visual evidence of the planets crisis and what is actually happening. Makes me wonder where America would be now if this man had been voted into office.
A comprehensive explanation of what's at stake ... if this doesn't convince you, we might as well just give up.
Great documentary, worth watching.
With such pre-publicity I expected more. It made the point, then made the point again, then .... I actually turned off about three-quarters of the way through saying: "Ok Al. I got the message!" Maybe I'm an odd one out here, (and obviously a social outcast), but I think people are becoming a little jaded with everything - and I mean everything - being attributed to Global Warming. The drought, the rains, the rising sea level, the price of fish! (I remember 7 years ago everything was going to crash and burn because Y2K was going to shut down every computer in the world at midnight on 1999. ) Yes, we must all start using long-life light bulbs, and developing rewable energy sources. But it seems all the time the US, Russia, China and India (who account for more than 75% of the carbon emissions) don't get involved, we're just "p....ing in the wind". This movie suggests Al Gore doesn't know how to get them on board, so he's trying to motivate the general public to "do more". But surely as an ex-Presidential contender, he's in a better position than most of us to get American motivated and maybe he should be using his oudoubted communications skills to that end.
good informative piece of cinemaa
A slickly informative documentary dealing with the subject of global warming. Whilst it does not sensationalise the issue, it does come across as a bit sanctimonious like Al Gore himself. War against Climate Change. Now that's one really worth fighting. Bush junior are you listening? Apparently not.
If you care about the earth and its future...watch this.
Interesting, but bit of a lecture feel about it
It's a pity the US citizens din't elect him as their President!
Amazing presentation of the facts and an insight to what drives Al Gore's mission to engage all of us to be responsible wardens of our awesome planet.
Whether you argee or disafree with Al Gore, this is an interesting piece.
interesting but way too many shots of Al Gore typing away on his laptop!
The subject matter is of vital signifcance, though one could not help feeling that this was also about Al Gore. Maybe he is going to run again.
I thought this would be interesting but probably a bit boring - it wasn't boring and if you are into power point presentations this will amaze you
A must see for anyone serious about the issues affecting our environment
Worth watching and has definately got me thinking and doing some research
Thought provoking and very effective warning about where the earth is heading unless we act now. Show it to anyone who thinks that global warming isn't proven!
Fantastic! Definitely worth watching. An eye opener
Very interesting, but is it all true? How do we know?
I watch the first 30 minutes on this DVD and decided i had to buy this.I learned a lot in that time, now i have a lot to learn as well as everone one this planet"ITS scary stuff" AND I THE PLANET IS HEADING FOR DISASTER.We must look after the earth as its the only home we have and we act like we rent this.We only have one planet and we must take care of this NOW and its now showing signs of disaster.THIS IS A MUST AND ALL ACT NOW
More interesting than you might at first think. Really fires you up to save this planet we all share!
As a person conscious of what we are doing to our environment it is great to now hear so much talk to reduce carbon emissions and global warming. This film should be a part of all school curriculum from prep to University world wide - don't miss it!!
Shocking facts, but necessary to know for everybody. And the best thing: it's so easy to reduce the increase of global warming, we only have to start !
Very informative and should be seen by all thinking people. we should not ignore the facts and listen to the pollys rather be aware what is rearly hapenning and do our littke bit to save future generations from OUR mistakes.
Compelling. A must see for everyone!
Really thought provoking - everyone should see this movie.
Al Gore, whilst my definite choice for President over George 'idiot' Bush Jr., has no friends (see South Park Episode "Man Bear Pig" (South Park Season 9). This 'documentary' shows some very convincing pictures, but much of the scientific evidence he so calls to introduce has been refuted by many other scientists. If only people had the time to search for the truly UNBIASED scientific opinion on climate change there may be not so much money to be made by those at the extremes of either side of the debate. If you watch this, do yourself a favour and search for some other sources on the web and in academic databases. You wil be very surprised...
An absolute cracker. And it contains hope!! Well presented, just the facts. Regardless of all the hype this is a fabulous presentation.
Brilliant documentary. If all of the information presented is accurate it paints a bleak picture if we don't change our ways.
An eye opening movie that you must watch, if only to form your own opinion. Despite some obvious bias, it warns us all about what might be our not too distant future.
Finally got to see this; very informative.
Great to know the solutions are already there to follow through on. Was a bit disappointed he didn't cover any species extinction, but some of that was interestingly covered on 'March of the Penguins'.
This is an incredible movie for anyone into the environment and the future of our planet. Al Gore does a very credible job explaining the research and findings. It is just a shame that those that should be watching this probably won't.
A well constructed documentary, worthy to such a topic. Definate watch.
Some sceptics will live in denial forever (it is really amazing).
He could not be any clearer.
Change your habits now!
Everyone on the planet should be made to watch this. Compulsory viewing for all those with their heads still stuck in the sand regarding climate change.
Comments:
A very informative documentary. I think it could have been presented in a more entertaining way though, it was a little boring. I still however reccommend you watch this one as it is relevant to each and everyone of us!
A very informative documentary. I think it could have been presented in a more entertaining way though, it was a little boring. I still however reccommend you watch this one as it is relevant to each and everyone of us!
An excellent movie, a must see for everyone even if you are sceptical about global warming this movie will make you think again. You have to wonder what this world would be like if Al Gore had made it to the Presidency!
A wake-up call for the Earth
Great info for those that are unaware of environmental issues without being over the top or to 'wordy'. I enjoyed this and hope that people realise that mother earth will not look after us unless we look after her! Peace!
Should be made compulsory viewing for every man, woman, & child in the Country, and for the Politicians and CEO's it should be made a condition on their next Salary Cheque that they have seen, learned, and inwardly digested the lessons and the warnings.
Makes me wonder how different the world would be if Al Gore was the President! Share it with everyone you know. Don't miss the special features, it completes the movie.
A movie that should be viewed by everyone. If you know someone who thinks there is no global warming then make them watch this. It will change the way they think like it did with me....
A movie everybody should be made to watch. What a shame Al Gore wasn't voted as leader of the most powerful country which contributes more to global warming than another nation, as he states. What a difference it could've made.
Al Gore is an amazing human being. He unfolds this compelling, confronting and decidley inconvienient truth in a way we can all understand. All of us need to know this story, we all need to react now and change the way we use and affect our fragile planet.
michael j..... how ignorant! he flew around the world to educate people. we need people of his reknown and in his position of (potential) power to be making an effort to take control of such a relevant issue/problem that our capitalist nations have chosen to ignore for far too long.
If you haven't seen this movie....YOU NEED TO!!! A shocking reality check!
An eye opener on our fragile earth.
Everyone should see this documentary, it's eye opening and we can all do our bit to save the planet.
A fascinating look at the impact humans have had on the earth in recent times, and a wake up call for each of us to do our part - however seemingly small - in slowing the damage.
Delivered as mix of his 'slideshow' presentation and personal commentary, some of his facts lacked the necessary detail to satisfy my scientific brain, but the sheer volume of examples from every part of our world was hard to ignore.
For me the clincher was the measurements of carbon dioxide and temperature from the Antarctic over the last 650,000 years. Whether or not you belive that carbon dioxide is the cause of glogal warming, it's clear that something is happening to our world that has not happened in the last 650,000 years.
The 'update' in the special features was worth watching as well, confirming that the trends are continuing.
A great eye opener for many. Talks of issues that many would rather ignore, but can't be ignored any longer. Very informative. Lots of beautiful cinemtaic footage, especially of Antarctica. A movie that should be viewed by everyone on the planet.
If you manipulate the X and Y axis on any graph you can make little things seem really, really big.
Interesting that Gore flew around the world on nasty fossil fuel burning planes to promote this. YAWN
