Director: Davis Guggenheim
Actor: Al Gore

A Global Warning Humanity is sitting on a time bomb. If the vast majority of the world's scientists are right, we have just ten years to avert a major catastrophe that could send our entire planet's climate system into a tail-spin of epic destruction involving extreme weather, floods, droughts, epidemics and killer heat waves beyond anything we have ever experienced - a catastrophe of our own making. If that sounds like a recipe for serious gloom and doom - think again. From director Davis Guggenheim comes the Sundance Film Festival hit, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, which offers a passionate and inspirational look at one man's commitment to expose the myths and misconceptions that surround global warming and inspire actions to prevent it. That man is former Vice President Al Gore, who, in the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, re-set the course of his life to focus on an all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change. In this eye-opening and poignant portrait of Gore and his "traveling global warming show," Gore is funny, engaging, open and downright on fire about getting the surprisingly stirring truth about what he calls our "planetary emergency" out to ordinary citizens before it's too late. With 2005, the worst storm season ever experienced in America just behind us, it seems we may be reaching a tipping point - and Gore pulls no punches in explaining the dire situation. Interspersed with the bracing facts and future predictions is the story of Gore's personal journey - from an idealistic college student who first saw a massive environmental crisis looming, to a young Senator facing a harrowing family tragedy that altered his perspective, to the man who almost became President but instead returned to the most impassioned cause of his life - convinced that there is still time to make a difference.

This movie exposed large gaps in my current affairs knowledge. I am glad I watched it to hear Al Gore and see what he is, rather than the few scraps that had previously come across my consciousness when he was running for office. I admire his zeal for the cause and the effort he makes to educate the masses.

More "documentary" that I expected, but eye opening and attention grabbing.... It's certainly made me think about a few things... Bit too much political pitch in it for me, much prefer hard facts, but I guess I should have expected that with Al Gore really.... but as I say, very interesting all the same. Worth a watch, not boring, definitely grasped me

"Excellent". "Everyone should see it". Truly eye opening". All of that. I liked Al Gore's humour, his presentation style, and his commitment to what he was saying. He has researched this stuff, made it his life's work and he is obviously passionate about it. It does beg the question what the 2000s would have looked like without Dubya.

An excellent movie, and yes everyone should see this... 30 years ago I worked for GreenPeace, and now these organisations are even more needed. All Gore has made a start but we all need to be involved. By us talking to others about it, and change our ways, so we dont produce more CO2!! We took only 100 or so years to practically destroy God's work. We better fix it, before He will!

please every one let me remind you that this has holes in it, the earth is getting warmer yes, but study shows that other planets are getting warmer aswell, also if you havent heard of the oregan partition (i think its the oregoan partition) please look it up, its a partition signed by many scientists that claim that some proof of global warming is fabricated, and many of these people had to sacrifice there jobs as they were fired or silenced for oposing "the inconveniant truth" and al gore. al gore is a real hero he does care about the earth, what he doesnt mention is that to stop global warming 80 percent of worlds population needs to perish.. please consider this.

Brilliant movie. Perhaps our politicians (someone named Tony in particular) should be made to sit down and watch this. Al Gore demonsrates the clear evidence of the detrimental impact we are having on this earth. He hit the nail on the head when he explained that if something happens gradually, people are quite ignorant of it and think it will sort itself out. If we don't make an effort to change the way we are living then our lives and our descendants lives will be greatly affected - for the worse. This movie strengthened my convictions to adjust my habits and my lifestyle to ensure minimum impact on my environment, and even made the message in Avatar (the movie) more poignant and relevant.

A lot of the facts stated in this movie I had already heard so the movie didn't have the impact of someone who saw the movie when it first came out. I enjoyed it though and thought Al Gore was a very good presenter and public speaker. If what he presented is true, and other scientist's reports of the planet's doom is true, then Earth will be a sorry place to be in 50 years time unfortunately.

Scarier than any horror movie, this is a must-see whether u are a skeptic or not. Well presented with all the facts put out there and solid evidence shown to back up what Gore says; plus humour added to make the message come across to the audience in a not-so harsh tone. This is an A-grade documentary.

This is an impressive docudrama which presses home its author's viewpoint with vigour. If you believe it you are left terrified. Its problem is that it omits presenting any contrary scientific view, and so it becomes just another political polemic.

I understand how some people could view this movie as an 'Al Gore for president' campaign trailer however, to be sceptical about the whole issue of global warming is ridiculous. Do you people live in an airtight container under the sea ? (if you did, you'd probably notice the water temperature increasing). Melting polar ice-caps and million year-old glaciers, extreme drought, severe hurricanes all as a result of reduced rainforests and increased carbon emmisions.......and some people believe it's fiction ! C'mon !!

This film should be seen by everyone, in particular every politician in every country irrespective of their political persuasion, every corporate mogul, every school child and university student, every parent, every grand parent. For all the fantastic brains in this wonderful world of ours, we are still so stupid as to not take notice of what is happening around us. In spite of all the incredible advances made by man we do not take enough consideration to counteract the adverse outcomes of our so called progress. Wake up world, its now or never.

With such pre-publicity I expected more. It made the point, then made the point again, then .... I actually turned off about three-quarters of the way through saying: "Ok Al. I got the message!" Maybe I'm an odd one out here, (and obviously a social outcast), but I think people are becoming a little jaded with everything - and I mean everything - being attributed to Global Warming. The drought, the rains, the rising sea level, the price of fish! (I remember 7 years ago everything was going to crash and burn because Y2K was going to shut down every computer in the world at midnight on 1999. ) Yes, we must all start using long-life light bulbs, and developing rewable energy sources. But it seems all the time the US, Russia, China and India (who account for more than 75% of the carbon emissions) don't get involved, we're just "p....ing in the wind". This movie suggests Al Gore doesn't know how to get them on board, so he's trying to motivate the general public to "do more". But surely as an ex-Presidential contender, he's in a better position than most of us to get American motivated and maybe he should be using his oudoubted communications skills to that end.

Al Gore, whilst my definite choice for President over George 'idiot' Bush Jr., has no friends (see South Park Episode "Man Bear Pig" (South Park Season 9). This 'documentary' shows some very convincing pictures, but much of the scientific evidence he so calls to introduce has been refuted by many other scientists. If only people had the time to search for the truly UNBIASED scientific opinion on climate change there may be not so much money to be made by those at the extremes of either side of the debate. If you watch this, do yourself a favour and search for some other sources on the web and in academic databases. You wil be very surprised...

Brilliant documentary. If all of the information presented is accurate it paints a bleak picture if we don't change our ways.

An eye opening movie that you must watch, if only to form your own opinion. Despite some obvious bias, it warns us all about what might be our not too distant future.

Finally got to see this; very informative. Great to know the solutions are already there to follow through on. Was a bit disappointed he didn't cover any species extinction, but some of that was interestingly covered on 'March of the Penguins'.

This is an incredible movie for anyone into the environment and the future of our planet. Al Gore does a very credible job explaining the research and findings. It is just a shame that those that should be watching this probably won't.

Comments: A very informative documentary. I think it could have been presented in a more entertaining way though, it was a little boring. I still however reccommend you watch this one as it is relevant to each and everyone of us! A very informative documentary. An excellent movie, a must see for everyone even if you are sceptical about global warming this movie will make you think again. You have to wonder what this world would be like if Al Gore had made it to the Presidency!

Great info for those that are unaware of environmental issues without being over the top or to 'wordy'. I enjoyed this and hope that people realise that mother earth will not look after us unless we look after her! Peace!

Should be made compulsory viewing for every man, woman, & child in the Country, and for the Politicians and CEO's it should be made a condition on their next Salary Cheque that they have seen, learned, and inwardly digested the lessons and the warnings.

A movie everybody should be made to watch. What a shame Al Gore wasn't voted as leader of the most powerful country which contributes more to global warming than another nation, as he states. What a difference it could've made.

Al Gore is an amazing human being. He unfolds this compelling, confronting and decidley inconvienient truth in a way we can all understand. All of us need to know this story, we all need to react now and change the way we use and affect our fragile planet.

michael j..... how ignorant! he flew around the world to educate people. we need people of his reknown and in his position of (potential) power to be making an effort to take control of such a relevant issue/problem that our capitalist nations have chosen to ignore for far too long.

A fascinating look at the impact humans have had on the earth in recent times, and a wake up call for each of us to do our part - however seemingly small - in slowing the damage. Delivered as mix of his 'slideshow' presentation and personal commentary, some of his facts lacked the necessary detail to satisfy my scientific brain, but the sheer volume of examples from every part of our world was hard to ignore. For me the clincher was the measurements of carbon dioxide and temperature from the Antarctic over the last 650,000 years. Whether or not you belive that carbon dioxide is the cause of glogal warming, it's clear that something is happening to our world that has not happened in the last 650,000 years. The 'update' in the special features was worth watching as well, confirming that the trends are continuing.

If you manipulate the X and Y axis on any graph you can make little things seem really, really big. Interesting that Gore flew around the world on nasty fossil fuel burning planes to promote this. YAWN
