In the chaotic aftermath of WWII, a group of German POW's are accidentally sent to a female-run Soviet prison camp. When the guards are given the task of weeding out the SS officers, they play a bitter game of cat and mouse with the prisoners. Each group slowly learns that situations are not what they seem; prejudices are sometimes unjustly held; and love can be found in even the harshest places.

Usually enjoy movies that address serious issues but not rapt with this one. Dull and slow.

Not as good as expected. Bit disjointed. I don't think the director knew whether he wanted to make a harrowing, gut wrenching story or a "feel good" story. Result was he gave a mixed bag at different times. The story just didn't seem to flow as it should have. I enjoy John Malkovich but didn't really think this was his film. I don't know, maybe too much was packed into this which detracted from what otherwise could have been quite a moving and powerful story. It somehow just felt flat.
