Strong bloody violence and brief sex scene

Director: Tarsem Singh
Actors: Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz, Mickey Rourke, Freida Pinto, Isabel Lucas, John Hurt, Joseph Morgan, Stephen Dorff, Mark Margolis, Stephen Mchattie

Witness the epic battle as mere men become Immortals. Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares. Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king’s hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man’s conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion…until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders-including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff)-one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend. The 3-D epic adventure Immortals is directed by revolutionary visualist Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) and produced by Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton, the producers of 300, as well as Ryan Kavanaugh (Dear John, The Dark Fields).

pretty average.. watch it if you like these sort of movies.. costumes, medieval. warrior fighting with sword & shield. etc etc.... oh and an Indian girl pretending to be Greek... ahem. Frieda was amazing in Slumdog, but here, she is just not in the right role.

I keep falling asleep watching this. There's a plot that I cant get to grips with, and a wall of special effects of fighting, battles and CGI monsters. I might try watching it again, but there wasnt anything that engaged me enough to see me through to the ending credits. - One star - purely for the shut-eye time I was given . 37% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes website!

One of the worst movies ever made, I actually turned it off before the end because I couldn't take it any longer. If you like badly choreographed and poorly illuminated action fights, horrible acting and a particularly bland story line, you might just enjoy this.

This movie looks like it's B grade from start to finish, but there are some pretty fight scenes and the action choreography is actually quite good. It's an okay watch but far from the standard of '300'.

Terrible! I really enjoy Greek Mythology but this was a horrible movie. Basically it was just an excuse to get in as much gore as possible into an hour forty. By half way through this movie I had it muted and was just skimming through the subtitles while I surfed the net. Trust me when there is no music or sound effects to distract you, you really start to notice just how bad the CGI actually was. Unless you enjoy watching very bad effects of bodies exploding on impact or being cut in half, don't bother getting this one out. Now I know what to expect, I won't be bothering to see 300, which is a shame cause I've read the story and like the old movie version.

Greek Mythology...need I say more? The creators of "the elite", the chosen ones, the superior race were once "pagan" worshipping soldiers- trained from birth to fight for their thrones. Homer first wrote the fabulous stories of the gods, semi-gods and mortals that fought for power over the world, in a book called The Odyssey, even though Homer was illiterate and the stories he wrote about were campfire word-of-mouth fables handed down through the aeons! Clash of the Greek Mythology...need I say more? The creators of "the elite", the chosen ones, and the superior race were once "pagan" worshipping soldiers- trained from birth to fight for their thrones. Homer first wrote the fabulous stories of the gods, semi-gods and mortals that fought for power over the world, in a book called The Odyssey, even though Homer was illiterate and the stories he wrote about were campfire word-of-mouth fables handed down through the aeons! Clash of the Titans was Hollywood's interpretation of the myths, and Immortals is a more Greek viewpoint of what those stories meant. Adding a Genghis Khan quality to King Hyperion was either a stroke of genius or a racial slur, either way, Mickey Rourke's bad guys never fail to impress. Although in this the gods lack a certain celebrity appeal (e.g.: Liam Neeson), their god-like powers are better illustrated and their bloody deaths more visible than the people's lack of faith. Out of 5 I gave it three stars- one lost for the stretched out storyline (more action than exposition), and the other for the OTT cheesy dialogue and lingering man shots.

The composition was disjointed. It suffers from a lack of cohesion not dissimilar to the composition of the Jason momoa Conan movie. A viewer can gapfill time dissonance, bare character motives or non-existance plot bases' but an intelligent person will reach a point of consternation at all of them all at once. this way of movie making is becoming more pervasive, but only the superior movie makers actually understand what they have done. If the move maker is just tagging along on a trend, then dont expect the audience to acclaim the title. Otherwise good.

To date I have seen all the Tarsem Singh movies and have yet to be able to say that any of them are excellent, always exceptional to look at but still fall short of being spectacular. This director will one day blow us away , but not just yet.

There are a couple of ways of looking at this movie, firstly as an action movie and purely as an action movie it is good not great but good. Secondly it is a retelling of myth for modern audience. But here I feel it really flops it has very little to do with the myth if he did not kill a man wearing a bull helmet (the Minotaur) they could have given him another name and we would have been none the wiser. Or we can see this as a movie which retells the myth for a message to today. But it is hard to see what that message is. Zeus is a loving deistic God (a contradiction in terms) who will kill other gods when they want to intervene to help humanity. Theseus as a hero doesn’t do very much which is heroic, compared to the Theseus of legend his acts are very tame. In the end you are left wondering what positive message can be given for butchering a classic story.

This latest Greek saga has the drama of TROY, the mythology of CLASH OF THE TITANS and the gruesome action of 300. But even with elements of all three it still wasn't as good as them. Henry Cavill is still a relative unknown this side of next year's appearance as Superman. John Hurt in the cast adds credibility but otherwise it's badly in need of star-power. And no, Mickey Rourke doesn't count! Not a bad movie but I won't be rushing out to buy a copy for my DVD library.

Bad script, good graphics, marginal acting - Ms. Punto's rear almost makes up for it. The story is very slow, and does not flow well. You do not get a sense of time - cut scenes are all over the place. The wander from place to place, without any exhaustion - no loss of time, etc. Very Very bad.. they ride on the fact that it was from the 300 producers - that makes it worse. The speech and the shield clapping was pathetic to say the least. Fight scenes are OK, however gods and titans battle is just plain pointless. Do rent and see for your self - not recommended though!

This is a way different take on a part of Greek mythology. I roughly thought that this movie tries to be 'realistic', which is a shame because one would expect battles against archaic creatures and a larger-than-life adventure so commonly portrayed in this genre. Disappointingly, this flick failed to celebrate one of Greek's founder-heroes (or maybe it wasn't meant to) as the likes of Hercules or Perseus (but then again its not a historical documentary). As for being entertainment, it just plainly fails. Waste of talent in Mickey Rourke, Stephen Dorff and Ms Pinto. One thiings for sure, these actors wouldn't want to be Immortalised with this pic. Blah!Blah!Blah!

I think I had unrealistic high hopes of this movie. The story is great but it was pretty poorly written. There were good elements and it was mildly enjoyable, but if Henry Cavill hadn't been flashing his torso every few minutes I would most likely have lost interest before the end. Shame has a good cast and looks pretty. Think it was the writers that let the whole thing down!

What a huge disappointment. Fake looking sets, wooden acting and a dull screenplay make this "300" clone a waste of time. If Mr Cavill doesn't pick up his game for "Superman", we could be in trouble...

Saw this at the cinema courtesy of Quickflix - thanks for the free tix! Really enjoyed it - the landscaping shots were great & the fight scenes & choreography are awesome - particularly when the gods get stuck in! The camera pans across the fight, following a particular character, such as when Theseus is fighting in the corridor into Tartarus. The weird lighting & speed up/slow down fight scenes reminded me of 300, so if you liked that, or are into Greek myth, then you'll like this too.

I had the misfortune of seeing this one in theaters. I like to see people use their subscriptions wisely and I'd advise anyone reading not to rent this. It's just bland writing and showing off how many ways a person can be cut in half. A very bad movie, rent something else.
