The purpose of the program set up by the Pentagon, called the "Human Hibernation Project," is designed so that the military can save their best men for when they're needed most. According to the officers heading the project, too many times the talents and expensive training of the best pilots and soldiers go to waste during times of peace. So they enlist Bauers (Wilson), the most under-achieving average guy they've got, to be the test subject for the initial hibernation experiment. Also participating in the top-secret program is Rita (Rudolph), a prostitute who agreed to take part in exchange for dropping some criminal charges against her, among other things. Of course, the experiment, which was to last only a year, goes under due to the arrest of Officer Collins, who is busted for heading a prostitution ring. Seeing as though he was in charge of the experiment, one of the only ones who knew of its existence, and "due to a lot of top-secret red tape... and the massive scandals and base closure that followed, Joe and Rita were forgotten about.

What scares me the most is that this is entirely too plausible... good for a light evening's entertainment.

The story concept is fascinating....and probably true. Pity that not a lot of effort was put into this particular production, but it was entertaining and though provoking. worth a watch.

A fundamentally nasty expression of prejudice. The 'idiots' of this conceptual dystopia are actually caricatures of anyone who isn't a White, middle class male. Pseudo-intellectual self-indulgence. Lacking in emotional and comedic depth if you do not sympathise with this problematic premise.

Conceptually excellent idea...poor movie, only worth the watch to get the concept, which is becoming all pervasive in our society right now, dumbing down of intellect via the media we 'can't live without'

This is supposedly a Comedy, but it is in fact a History Lesson on what will become of the human race! We pay bogans to breed, while the intelligent people lead a career, and this Movie shows the results!

Interesting movie, kinda scary because it's an entirely possible scenario of the future! If you look past the silliness there's actually a message behind it all.

This movie starts with the interesting premise that the human race becomes more stupid because the intelligent people have more fulfilling things to do. Unfortunately, that's it. There is only one joke rehashed over and over, and it isn't very funny anyway. This is a totally lame film.

We also didn't find this to be hilarious, however got a few laughs. Borders on stupid, but a reasonable watch.

I didn't find this hilarious but it was an easy to watch diversion. Sadly I agree with a lot of the other reviewers in that this is a satirical take of 500 years in the future but I think its already happening now! Listening to my teenager and her friends, oh boy is the future in trouble! Stupidity and vanity are fashionable and intelligence is passe.

Luke Wilson never fails to impress me with his movies. If you have very silly and sexual humor, than this movie is perfect for you. (Action Comedy.)

Great comedic social satire about where our society could be heading, very enjoyable. Lots of fart jokes if you're into that.

This movie is one of my all time favourites, I laughed my head off at this. It is up there with Team America and I totally agree with Chris Js comment that if you think you should be laughing at the low brow humour you aren't getting it. So where exactly are us humanoids on this little blue marble heading .... aarrrrrrrrrchkgh

Definitely not a movie to take seriously. Even so, I didn't think it was that great. No character development, story line seemed a little rushed and half baked. If you want some comedy, go for Simon Pegg in Shaun of The Dead or Hot Fuzz.

Thought provoking premise. Humour is clever but not subtle. Think Beavis and Butthead. rather than Frasier. I'm a Frasier fan but loved this movie.

I actually enjoyed it, watched it after my 25y.o. son kept pestering that it should make me aware of what is happening with today's society.............. it did, though the scary thing was that this is already happenening today, not in the year 2507 :(

A clever and funny look at modern trends. My only disappointment was that the female lead was a simple character, she didn't do or develop much.

This was ridiculous, peurile and vulgar- so well worth a look! It has some interesting (highly exaggerated) comments on where the world is headed- but at the same time it is an old fashioned goof ball comedy. Don't expect a masterpiece or you will be disappointed. But if you want something light and mindless which will give you a few laughs, then give it a go!

The sad fact about this movie is that it could actually happen, that being said I found the movie enjoyable and worth a look on a rainy Sunday arvo. The most appealing aspect would be the movies concept, the interpretation and acting leave a bit to be desired. Cheers.

This film really did not get it's due. It's the sort of film with enough memorable jokes and one-liners in between a light plot that should see them being repeated by young adults for months to come (like, for example, Zoolander, which was so hot right now). Idiocracy, it's what movie watchers crave!

Hilarious, intelligent and a scathing indictment of the West's culture of anti-intellectualism. Granted the humour on face value is low brow. However, the scatology, pratfalls and idiocy are warranted and made funnier in the context of a culture that has become so stupid, lazy and venal. Just because you may not have heard of it, don't let that deter you. It didn't receive a proper release for reasons outside its quality. In short, Fox dumped it without marketing because the film satirizes Fox and its corporate sponsors, although the story is more complex and farcical than that.

This movie needs to be classified under horror, and hopefully in 500 years time it isn't mistakenly be filed under documentary. This film brings home very effectively a few home truths that ring just a little too true.

What a great straight to DVD movie. It has a low budget and not a deep plot, but it made me laugh. If you think you should be laughing because there is low brow humour you aren't getting it. It's like an American version of Cath and Kim in the future. What's not to like!

To be fair I only find Bevis and Butthead occasionally funny, and never embraced King of The Hill, so it???s no surprise that this one misses the mark. Great concept that should have been funnier.

Great concept reasonably well executed although the script was ordinary in parts. The worst thing about the movie is of course that it's highly likely to come true (assuming the planet doesn't kill us all off via global warming first). It's not that great a leap from today's society where Big Brother and footy players are seen as far more important and worthy of adulation than are scientists and doctors to the lowest-common-denominator society portrayed in the film.

While quite funny, I found this film to be quite juvenile in it's humour and was embarressed to watch it in company. It's a pity because the concept is clever. Good for a laugh but don't expect too much - I feel betrayed by the Movie Show who reviewed this favourably! :)

While this is hardly a high-brow movie, it did provide us with amusing and enjoyable entertainment. This movie provides a fast forward into the year 2507. See a whole new take on presidential elections, the impact of advertising and fast food, and perhaps some encouragement for intellectual procreation. A Roman circus without the culture, a fantastic time machine, and some interesting uses for rope in building maintenance. This is a hoot!
