I wanted to watch the Original after watching the new one.......The movie isnt for everyone, basic acting and film work. Its not a film you sit with popcorn and enjoy, you just watch it. Its not too bad given its late 70's a women left for dead and gets revenge.

An excellent story of revenge of a woman visciously raped while hoping to live in a peaceful setting while writing a book, which came to a virtual end when raped. The ending is not for the faint hearted.

I didn't really like this movie, i can't see what all the fuss is about plus the volume on it was really low.

a very scary movie - the contempt those men had for that lady - worth watching but not alone

Can't even rate a single star. The "star", Buster Keaton's grandaughter, Camille spent most of the movie naked with additional characters that laughingly call themselves actors. It was a simple revenge movie that was totally unbelievable, no real storyline and quite frankly wouldn't make a half decent 'B-grade' movie. Don't waste your time

Sometimes a movie comes around that defies logic and good taste, but becomes a classic in movie history...for any serious movie fan this is a must see, not easy, not pretty, not uplifting but totally compelling...the story is fairly straight forward, boys rape girl, girl kills boys...the way its portrayed is the interest, the film makers really pushed the envelope here, graphic, confronting, and brutal while being totally absorbing... not for the easily offended, but well worth the effort..

This movie will not be for everybody. l don't think l have seen this subject matter covered before this movie or since. lt's horror in the real sense, horror that has no tricks and no special affects, it's a tail of pure evil and human abuse which shocks you like nothing you have ever seen before. lt's not horror in the form of Hostel or Saw which are horror at one end of the scale with all the tricks and special effects. This movie is horror at the other far extreme. l think what makes it so shocking is it's such a real possibility that it's the most frightening horror l have ever seen. l think Wolf Creek had a scene which gave you some of the feelings you will get here but Spit is far more shocking. Extremities comes to mind as the closest rival to Spit, but again Spit is more shocking. lf you get through the abuse, revenge is sweet and this girl has her day in spades. lt's well worth it to witness the best revenge story you will ever see. lt makes The Bridge's revenge trail from Kill Bill look pretty mild. lf you dare this movie will haunt you long after, but not for the faint hearted.

This film is considered to be high in the top of the video nasties. Hearing this I rented the film and viewed it with an open mind and aloth its clearly low budget and hard to watch its a brilliant piece of film making. A lady goes to a summer retreat to write her 1st novel and is attacked, hunted down and raped by 4 thugs. The acting is top notich and the 4 guys really play hateful sexist relics and the direction is brill as well. The special effects are quite stomich twisiting esp the bathtub scene. But the thing I applauded is how this movie shows rape to be what it really is - a discusting and degrading vile act and DNA testing was not around then so who would belive her? Her revenge was extreame but understandable considering the torment they put her thou for no reason apart from the fact they were monsters. The bathtub scene is certain to make most guys uncomtable seeing what she did and with a "rusty" knife as well making it worse. A powerful movie that is worth a view but the rape scenes are very difficult to watch and the gore scenes are as well even thou they are well handled

very disturbing rape scenes. I love thriller/horror movies with a story line, but I have watched this before, and this time it was a little bit more disturbing due to the content.

A cult movie. I am surprised that they released it on DVD in Australia. One movie for those of us who liked Blood Sucking Freaks. Has some scenes of brutal rape, probably the worst in American film history. Is very violent but is also a movie about revenge, so in a way it has a happy ending. I saw it when I was very young and was traumatised for weeks. Definitely not one for a younger teen audience. Its very easy to forget when this film was made it was super shocking. Has a great plot although in some areas its a little thin.

For horror movie fans and general movie buffs to relish un-cut on DVD. This is a classic piece of cinema if for no other reason than it is one of the most vilified pieces of celluloid ever created. If you were to remove all the hype it would not be so interesting although it still serves its purpose as a female revenge movie preceded by the longest rape sequence in cinema history. Two great commentaries make this DVD edition a fascinating viewing experience to allow you to re-examine a film that was said to glorify rape when in fact if anything it glorifies revenge and is most certainly a feminist movie that asks us to enjoy seeing a gang of rapists cut to pieces which I most certainly did. Not for those seeking a romantic comedy but definitely worth a look just to find out what all the fuss was about all those years ago.

I HAVE seen this movie. So listen to me. This film has been banned in Australia for about 20 years. Why? Because of the graphic rape scenes. OO, and maybe because a guy gets castrated!! This isn't exactly pleasant viewing people! But neither is this quality viewing. This film was made with bad taste (but bad taste can be good!!), but alas, every quality of this film is also bad! The script sucks, the acting, worse, and the camera work will make you want to throw a brick at someone! If anything, this film is passable as a rather macabre black-comedy, as you can laugh at all things bad about this film as the victim goes about seducing her rapers and then killing them. Don't be tricked, this film wasn't banned because it is so shocking or distrubing anuthing, i left this film feeling no different than i did entering it, it isn't a powerful film, and the violence and sex does not have any strong affect. Why? Because this film was made poorly. Still, wacth it if you're curious about this "video nasty", and wan't to experience dodgy film making that almost reaches comparison with "Plan 9 from outer space!".
