The plot is almost impossible to believe but based on true events ‘I love you Phillip Morris’ an entertaining movie. Carey is terrific as the prison escapee, full of energy as you expect from him but its Ewan McGregor who takes out the acting honours. I’m not a big fan of McGregor but in this film he’s excellent. Its well directed and a good script… just don’t expect a top of the range movie and you will enjoy it.

This was the most fabulous movie and so different. Carrey and McGregor work so well together to make this story so believable. And to think it is a true story too! It's a great blending of comedy and drama - yes it is a comedy drama unlike many that called that and aren't. It was so good I watched it twice!

Not a bad movie, but it didn't entirely work. I think Carrey and McGregor were miscast. The movie has the feel of a small independent movie and having two major stars was a distraction.

An unusual (and uneven) black comedy that doesn't entirely. work. Carrey is a standout however and the on-screen romance is surprisingly believable and actually one of the stronger parts of the film. Worth a watch if only to see Carrey stretch himself from some of his more frequent light-weight comedy roles.

Considering I am not a fan of Jim Carrey, I found it to be better than frist thought. Was corney and lame but in a funny way.... Not a movie I would rush out to watch again. More than I expected though!

I had no clue what to expect of this movie - I really enjoyed it - thought the way the story was told was interesting and held my interest. If you are homophobic perhaps not a movie for you because some of the images are pretty full on. Different role for Jim Carrey and I thought he did it well. Worth a view.

I tend to hang in there with gay-themed movies but this one left me reaching for the fast-forward button. Okay, I've never liked Jim Carrey but I thought that Ewam McG would carry the story. Unfortunately not. Lots of gay in-jokes but a light-weight narrative that I felt just didn't hang together. The image of gay men takes a few more regressive steps.

I really enjoyed this movie, it's less comical Jim Carey but a role he fits into very well. an emotion roller-coaster as I laughed, cried and at parts were strangely puzzled. A true story I will watch again MORE OF A ALTERNATIVE LOVE STORY then comedy. being said some parts dragged.. great acting by Ewan McGregor!

We liked it. It is quite an unusual story, though it is based on a true events.
Some parts were funny, some parts were sad, it did get a bit silly towards the end and it was hard to determine what really did happen and what was created for the film.
I like both Carrey and McGregor but together they seemed a bit awkward and not convincing.
Still it was better than i thought it would be.

If you like Jim Carey and expect comedy all the time, maybe this is not for you.
If you have a handle on what he likes to do, where he shakes it up a little and
does something different with a little bit of intelligent humour and take a look at
yourself before you judge others atitude, almost bordering on Tom Hanks's
Philedelphia, you will like this. Loved Ewan McGregor in this as well.

The chemistry between Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey was believable and only Jim carry could pull off the role of a conman. The atmosphere of the film was light and airy, giving an almost fairytale feel to what could have been a depressing jail-love. The directors did a well done job of creating a unique feel to the film.

Was disapointed by this movie, had heard good things but just found it a bit bland. Interesting story but didn't keep my interest. Disapointed by the previous homophobic reviews as the scenes in the movie were not that outrageous or uncommon and can quite easily be found in numerous other movies, just between heterosexual couples.

Great movie, hard to believe at times that it was based on a true story but life can be like that. An unusual, but touching, love story, no doubt it will be hated by those who think love can only exist between a man and a woman and judging by members reviews I can see that most think that. Why anyone would think that a MA classification was for family viewing escapes me. Read the critique before you rent and you will save your angst. A movie for adults not grown children. Enjoy it, it really is entertaining.

To be honest, I didn't finish this movie. I thought it would be more entertaining than it was, and I lost interest fairly early on. I cannot even explain why I didn't enjoy it, except to say that it seemed to be trying too hard to be funny or to be clever. I know it was based on a true story and therefore there is only so much "poetic licence" one can take with creating the story, but it just didn't really do it for me. I am generally very open-minded with the movies I watch but I couldn't even bring myself to watch this one all the way through. Tis a pity, as I feel it could have been so much more.

I wondered why this film went straight to DVD and didn't get a cinema release in Australia, but now that I have watched it, it's not that difficult to see why. While Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor do fine jobs of their characters, I can see that the story wouldn't have had broad appeal. I thought it was okay, but Jim has done a lot better.

A very funny black comedy. However, be warned this is not 'classic' Jim Carey it is more along the lines of his performance in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It is not a movie to watch with your parents unless they are very open minded and it most certainly not one for the kiddies, hence the MA rating.

Almost impossible to believe "true" story about a gay con-man who is still in prison and unlikely to get out. Carrey is amazingly good and McGregor is excellent also. I enjoyed a lot of this movie but found that it was uneven and some of the scams were a bit difficvult to grasp. Worth watching though. Shame it did not get a commercial release-it's miles better than a lot of movies that do. 3.5 stars.
