So you think you know the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Don’t be too sure... One of your favorite fairy tales is turned upside-down and inside-out in what the L.A. Times called "high-energy, imaginative entertainment." With irreverent storytelling, spunk and wit, Hoodwinked delivers a comedy caper for the young, the young at heart and everyone in between. When the police arrive at Granny’s cottage in the woods to answer a domestic disturbance call, it looks like just another open-and-shut case. But Red, Granny, the Big Bad Wolf and the Woodsman are not your usual suspects, as they have their own dark secrets, wily deceptions and conflicting accounts of the crime. Together, they must put aside their differences and find their own original twist on Happily Ever After in this raucous, genre-busting, animated gem!

Can't believe this has only 2.5 rating, if kids were voting it would be 5. This is a cleverly put together fairytale, you need to watch it twice to get all the overlaps, as its 4 characters views of the same story. Special mentions.......the hillybilly goat and the squirrel.

A great animated flick for the young and young at heart! I found Hoodwinked to be a very clever and fun movie, but I'd say more aimed at kids than adults. Even so definitely worth a look...

We took my 8 year old son, Marius, and twenty-five of his friends to see this for his birthday. Its a relatively low budget CGI animation, but tries hard to be quite sophisticated in concept and story. Perhaps a bit too sophisticated for its target audience. The over-riding comment from our group of seven and eight year olds was “weird”. Nonetheless, I think they enjoyed it. There were some very funny moments, from humour aimed both at the kids, as well as accompanying adults. Its a novel retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood story as a Noir detective story from multiple perspectives, much like Akira Kurosawa in Rashomon. If you find this hard to imagine consider that it also includes elements of Manga style surrealism in the animation. You can begin to appreciate why kids may find it weird. I enjoyed it. Its not punching in the same category as Cars or Over The Hedge, but its fine for what it is and quite original.

When hubby put this movie on I thought oh no! Boy was I surprised. Witty humour and totally unexpected as I thought it was going to another put your fingers down your throat "sweet" kids movie. The family loves it but I think Mum & Dad like it even more.

Terrible plotting and even worse animation! Some sharp character quips but that's it! Just watch the trailer and save yourself the (mercifully short) 70 minutes run time.

This movie ticks all the right boxes. It's clever, perhaps a shade too clever for its own good. Well made. But just lacking a special something.

What great entertainment. The animators, producers and director are to be congratulated on their wonderful imaginations because they delivered a show to be enjoyed by the entire family - including grandparents. It puts a whole new perspective on fairytales. Great variation in music to suit the scenes completed a very enjoyable watch. The characters were great - the snake in the band was a crackup with his unusual style with the tamborine. Also enjoyed the video clip of "Critters Have Feelings". There's a gammit of fairytales out there that could be adapted to the "what's the story behind the story" style. I'm sure/hope there will be sequels.

There were some funny moments - but it felt like they were desperately trying to be another Shrek... which didn't quite happen. If there were something more interesting on tv - I wouldn't bother with this.

It goes beneath the covers to get the real story behind red riding hood. The wolf was just doing his job granny is hiding a secrect, the ax man just plain weird. You need to watch it atleast twice so you don't miss any of the dialogue through laughter the first time round.

Brilliant animation, storyline and soundtrack....and it's suitable for both adults and children. One of the best animated films since Toy Story!! My five year old daughter was clued to the television like resin.
