Helmed by maverick director Joe Dante, The Hole should have been more than this. The movie kicks off very well, and builds the tension quite effectively, but halfway through, it falls appart. As the secret of the titular hole starts to reveal itself, the movie starts to lose steam, you'll see through it immediately and start thinking "that can't be it, there's got to be twist somewhere". Sadly, there isn't, the secret is as pedestrian as it appears. By the end, Dante is channeling his younger self from his insane, yet brilliant segment from the "The Twilight Zone", but much less effectively this time around. As much as I have enjoyed Dante's work over the years, I cannot recommend The Hole.

I think the other reviews were a bit harsh? While it certainly was not as good as it looked to be in the promos; it was OK to watch - 6/10. Steve
