Joe Dante,s return to the genre that made him known. The Hole story has a Stephen King feel to it. Unfortunately the presence of too much light in the photography spoils the creepy elements of the movie. A pity knowing that it could have been more frightening. Dante misses the point. Seeing ghosts in full light or an animated puppet arent going to scare you much if you are over 10 yo. Dante's got the skills but he keeps making movies that could have been convincing 20 or 30 years ago. Today a film like The Holwins out of fashion I might say. The end especially is disappointing and looks more like a Disney movie or a Harry Potter so it might please kids indeed. Too bad!

It was ok, different story line and had moments that made you jump. Nothing too heavy though if you watch it at night.

Its was nice to see a director stick to his/her roots with the typical "gremlins" feel.

The first half of the movie was good which had a real "The Ring" feel to it, but the story line in the second half was pretty bad. Worth watching only if there is nothing else is available.

Starts out as a kid's movie about moving to a new town. Then it turns into a decent supernatural thriller which is way too scary for kids. Then it turns into a kid's movie about facing your fears. If you're attracted to this because it's by the director of 'Gremlins' just go and watch the gremlins again and you'll have much more fun.

A bit creepy to start with, but once the storyline started to unfold it was very good.

A little slow at times but good scary teen movie and nice to have a scare without the blood and gore. Still wouldn't want young kids watching though. And why are clowns so scary....!!!

this one was too slow for my liking. Another 'been done many times before......... and done better' type movies. Although worth a look if you like 'holey movies'

This wasn't a bad little thriller, definitely aimed at a younger audience. A few moments that might be a bit too scary for very young viewers, but bear in mind it is rated M. It's the story of two brothers and their neighbour who discover a seemingly bottomless hole in the basement of their house. When they open the trapdoor and look in, the hole is able to see their deepest fears and sends these fears to kill them.
