They are immortals, destined to live forever. They must duel down the ages until one remains. Only decapitation by sword can release them from their age-long battle for an incredible prize - power beyond imagination. Such are the extraordinary events at the heart of this epic fantasy saga, a mystical tale of the struggle between Good and Evil, between the Highlander, Connor Macleod, and his eternal enemy, The Kurgan. From the Scottish Highlands of the 16th century to present-day Manhattan, they war for the Prize, while the fate of mortal man hangs in the balance. This is a must-see movie. But its not necessarily a must-love movie. Lambert is pretty awful: his Scottish accent is, well, French (at best). Connery's Egypytian accent is - on the other hand - Scottish. So you have to be a bit interpretive. The action sequences are generally laughable, and the style is very 1985 - so again, quite laughable. Enjoy?

I think it's fair to say that this80's movie hasn't dated very well at all. Still some memorable moments, but purely for the fans. Christopher Lambert was better as Tarzan I think, and may have used the same dialogue coach for this movie. The 80's fashions are fun to see, but movie-making has come a long way since this came out!

What can i say, at the time it was epic! Who doesn't love a good sword fight? Of course if you watch it now you can actually see the safety wires which lets it down but still its got a ripper plot and the idea is fantastic. A must see movie, just see it before you get too used to the graphics of today.

Easily Lambert's best film. Great soundtrack by Queen. Nice transitions backwards and forwards in time.

80's Cult classic from Aussie director Russell Mulcahy! Forget the aweful sequels, this movie is still outstanding and rocks with an awesome Queen soundtrack .

A worthwhile watch, but definitely not as good as I remembered. The plot has holes you could drive a truck through, Lambert's acting is weak (and his "Scottish" accent is dreadful), Connery isn't much better and the fight scenes are poorly choreographed and unrealistic. Such a great concept, just poorly executed. Still, you have to remember it was made 20 years ago.

There can be only one... and this is it, forget all the dodgy sequels this is the best by far. Great movie with a great cast. Sci-fi, action, love story all rolled into one great movie. Great music by Queen too.

It's getting a bit dated, but still a classic. Worth it just for Clancy Brown's performance as the Kurgan.

A truly epic story. There can only be one, and unfortunately this movie is it. Don't think after you have watched this one and enjoyed it that you can watch the sequels for the rest of the story, they were all one or two star movies after this original fantasy. An all round entertaining action fantasy movie, with a good story and some great actors.

This movie is a classic. The story..at the time (1980's) was original and very cutting edge. Wonderful story of good versus evil. An immortal traveling through time and memories, Connor McCloud weaves a tale of heart break, redemption and ultimate victory
