MEDIUM LEVEL COARSE LANGUAGE, LOW LEVEL VIOLENCE

Actors: John Cusack, Lili Taylor, Joan Cusack, Jack Black, Natasha Gregson Wagner, Todd Louiso, Iben Hjejle, Lisa Bonet, Joelle Carter, Sara Gilbert

Ever since a brief liaison under the football bleachers in grade 7, Rob Gordon (John Cusack) has been cursed with a romantic hex. All of his relationships seem to hinge on some essential bond and everytime, Rob blows it. Now he owns a semi-failing record store called Championship Vinyl, and toils over his current possible break-up with Laura (Iben Hjejle). This leads to Rob examining his 'Top Five Break-ups' of all-time. Along for the ride are his two wacky clerks - the hysterically funny rock snob Barry (Jack Black) and the more quietly opinionated underachiever Dick (Todd Louiso). Although they have an encyclopedic knowledge of pop music and are consumed with creating their all-time favourite top-five lists of songs it is of no help to Rob. Poppy, witty, quirky...High Fidelity is sure to make your all-time top five list for comedies - with a bullet!

I adore John Cusack but this movie is just plain annoying. And boring.

A modern day "Classic" than borrows more than a few things from Woody Allen. You'll enjoy it if you grew up in the 90's (or are a fan of it's music) and like John Cusack and Jack Black. If any of these rub you the wrong way this isn't the movie for you.

A well directed movie but Helen was a little self indulgent casting herself in the lead role. Hard not to think of a mother-son relationship with Mattthew Broderick

Enjoyable film with a number of interesting characters. The record shop setting made the film but the storey line was similar to others- cross between mid life crises and college student type script

Though records definitely aren't my thing, I was drawn into Rob's crazy world, and the strange world of his friends. An entertaining, yet at times almost heart-breaking, comedy.

Quirky and off beat movie. Well worth watching. Unlike any other movie that I have seen, but not in a bad way. Jack Black steals the show and cameo from The Boss.

Great movie. Terrific dialogue and great performances. I watched this movie when it first came out and didn't really like it. I decided to revisit it during a "John Cusack stage" and am glad I did. I don't know how I missed it the first time.

Another brilliant John Cusack movie. Jack Black is fantastic as the annoying friend and all the ex girlfriends are great. We've all wanted to revisit the past and see if things were actually as we remembered. Amusing and touching at the same time. A definite must see for everyone.

Entertaining stuff, shame it had to be Americanised but still works well. Great for any bloke who has ever compiled a Top 5 list.
