The story line in Hero was poor at best and the action was a "spoof" at best.
Quite disappointed, the slow scenes were VERY slow when you'd want them to be fast, it is an action movie after all.
Not bad, story was ok but a little disapointed, I expected more.
Confusing at times but it gets there in the end. The basic premise of what a hero is is a good one.
What a waste of time. Silly story, every cliched slow mo fight scene you could think of and what was most annoying is the badly dubbed english that doesnt match the english subtitles. Very badly done.
Good movie, one of the better ones out of China. Has the scene from the home cinema demos you see in some shops, with the army shooting arrows, and the two fighters deflecting them.
A wonderful masterpiece of color and martial arts brilliance.
Enjoying "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "House of Flying Daggers", it was easy to be captured by the beautifully layered plot and carefully assembled scenes, whether in the classical montages or in the ballets of movement. I think it is better than either of the other two although its story or message is ultimately simpler. I commend it to you.
Loved it, Visually beautiful, excellent fight scenes.
My expectations were high, but I was disappointed. Was this a semi-action film about a hero, or a philosophical treatise on the meaning of music and finger painting? I don't think the director really knew which! It was slow, unconvincing and one of the few films I could watch in fast forward without losing anything. What a waste of time!
What an awesome movie. I have seen it twice and marvelled at the cinematography both times. Amazing - and the story line is beautiful, I cried both times I watched it. One of my faves of all time.
Much more than the usual martial arts movie - magnificent photography, especially use of colour; high suspense until the final scenes.
Wasn't as good as 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' or 'House of Flying Daggers' in my opinion but still was a good film worth watching.
I enjoy watching action movies not bad
Beautifully shot, but pretty incoherent - even for a marshall arts movie. Over-the-top choreography for the fight scenes doesn't help.
Brilliant cinematography - a must see and preferably on a BIG tv
Not the best Jet Li movie I have seen, if you are a fan watch it if not don't bother.
Did not enjoy this as much as I was hoping to. The movie has a lot of other much better chinese movies to compete against and in my view does not make the grade of this genre. Fine cinematography and story line but many of Jet Li's more recent movies just lack the passion of movies of this type.
Visually beautiful, extraordinary effects in combat scenes - a delight to see again.
Nothing like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Storyline really hard to follow and quite boring. Watch it, if you like those typical kung fu movies.
Beautiful to look at.Much more than a just a martial arts flick. Well worth watching.
Defies gravity and logic but entertaining. Jet Li did well in the movie.
DVD quality was excellent.
Fantastic cinematography and design, awesome choreographed fight scenes.
its worth watching for the martial arts and sword play, but quiet difficult to follow as it is chopping back and forthand does leavr you wondering what the ?
FANTASTIC. True fairy-tale style story with excellent cinematography. Recommend you watch with subtitles.
Beautiful cinematography and fight scenes
The 1 point is for the photography, which is stunning. Shame about the silly plot, one dimensional characters and questionable theme of China's manifest destiny to be a single nation ruled by force. Give us a break. And the Tibetans.
Excellent Movie, Truly amazing visuals and a stunning performance by Jet Li. A must see for the whole family.
Watched this one, one can get lost quite easily in the storytelling ...
Visually stunning, interesting storyline, the extra features gave a good insight into making the film.
A movie that trully makes you think from all angles.
Quite stunning but can be a little hard to follow if your tired.
Zhang Yimou does Gong-Fu. The usual ZY elements, epic visuals and swathes of colour - plus teriffic fight scenes and a cast of thousands. More artwork than movie; more Hong Kong than Beijing. I particularly liked the sub-titled screams and yells. Inscrutable or just pretentious? You be the judge.
Superb fight scenes, and wonderful cinematography and use of colour, plus an intriguing and developing plot line told in flash back form. Great film.
Interesting story - beautiful , lyrical but in the end it seemed longer then its 95 mins.. just a touch too much lyrical, slow motion, significant moments made it seem a touch bloated - but still the well worth a look.
Stunning images, complex and interesting story, a completely new take on the martial arts genre.
This movie will capture, subjugate and re-educate you.
Hero is a worthy addition to the ever-growing list of asian action movies which revolve around the martial arts and the traditions and intrigues of political ambition. It is distinguished by superb locations, brilliant photography and an outstanding use of colour. The spectacular scenes of individual combat take the genre a stage further with balletic leaps and convincing displays of swordmanship. A must-see!
A beautiful movie with a definitive message.....a true visual, symbolic experience. Wish there were more movies like this made.
Hero is a great movie and quite beautful if that can be said about this type of movie. Well worth viewing
Stunning. A visual feast. A truly captivating style of storytelling.
