A Peter Jackson film that I enjoyed very much. It was engrossing: the casting, acting, script, cinematography all brilliant. There was a very good tie in of the fantasy scenes with the series of actual events. Having never seen this before now, I was surprised at just how good it was.

Great movie with excellent acting by two new actors (at the time). What an amazing true story. One of the girls wrote a diary, so it all happened!

An unexpectedly interesting movie in many ways, particularly the fitting mix of reality and fantasy. Whether it classifies as a "thriller" is debateable. More a good reflection of life, behaviour and attitudes in the 1950s. A time when the very idea of teenage girls forming a lesbian-like relationship was unthinkable and seen as an illness that "medicine would very soon solve" as a character in the movie proclaims. The film gives a sympathetic view of the state of mind that arose from how the teenagers were treated by adults, something that society at the time wouldn't have considered.

Excellent, reminded me a lot of the good old fashioned British Dramas, clear diction, good storyline, could have been slightly overacted in parts, but didn't detract from an excellent movie. Should be more of them!

If you watch any of the LOTR appendices you cant miss hearing about HC. The last straw was a documentary hosted by Hugo Weaving regarding the NZ movie industry.....HC is cited as the best NZ movie of all time. Well...it's out there. Sort of a cross between a Poirot and a psycho thriller. It is what it's all about .... the script is good (feature of all PJ movies) .... filming is excellent .... we only stopped in the middle to make a cup of tea. And get ready they do do it in the end!

I thought Kate Winslett was hysterical in this film, with her loud and extroverted personality. This was a somewhat distrubing film, and quite bizarre at times. The fantasy world scenes and characters were pretty amazing.

A little slow and drawn out in parts, I felt a bit strange watching this film. It's as if I was eavesdropping on a weird relationship. The start of the film virtually gives away the ending so the experience in between is somewhat dulled. This will only appeal to a few movie buffs. I couldn't recommend it.

This is an interesting movie about a true story that occured in the 1950s. The acting was terrific and the story, although quite bizarre, was captivating. Well worth a look! Kate Winslet was outstanding!
