Adult concepts, frequent coarse language and violence

Director: Michael Lehmann
Actors: Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, Shannen Doherty

A deliciously nasty black comedy, Heathers is set at a cliquish high school in Ohio. The most exclusive of those cliques is the Heathers, comprised of the prettiest and most popular girls in town. The group's leader is the manipulative Kim Walker, who orchestrates the humiliation of anyone who fails to meet her standards. Eventually, Heathers member Winona Ryder begins to exhibit a conscience; together with her hardcase boyfriend Christian Slater, Ryder plots to avenge all the unfortunate victims of the group. Before long, Heather (Kim Walker) ends up dead along with Kurt and Ram, with poignant suicide notes posted near their bodies.

A devious dark comedy with a stellar cast, brilliant acting and poignant concept. The extras on the dvd made the film even more interesting- to hear the perspectives of the director and producer on teen suicide, film and acquring funding and interest for the script. The story line is unpredictable and i really like the clever cinematography and editing techniques to keep the viewer engaged. 5 stars.

An amazing film, and shoulder pads aside, hardly dated. Worth watching for Christian Slater's voice alone. Very, very.

Probably a little too theatrical for my tastes, but a well put together and decently acted movie that gives a good look into the minds of teenagers when faced with peer pressure. A movie that is still highly relevant today.
