Do you have a friend going out with a schmuck? What you need is a professional heartbreaker - an irresistible man that can break up an unhappy relationship and save loved ones from an unsavoury life ahead. Alex (the brilliant Romain Duris), professional home-wrecker, and his sister and brother-in-law are partners in this lucrative activity which nonetheless has one golden rule: Alex only agrees to get involved with women who are unhappy girlfriends. A father who hates his future son-in-law hires Alex one week before the marriage he wants to prevent. The only problem is, the groom seems perfect and they look so in love. However, in need of money, Alex agrees to abandon his "code of ethics" and seduce the elegant young woman, Juliette (Vanessa Paradis). This is his biggest challenge yet and his charms have never failed him before... but when he feels like the one falling in love things start to go awry with hilarious results.

Heartbreaker is a modern romantic comedy with the charm of classic Hollywood fare from yesteryear, as it combines the glamour of To Catch A Thief with irresistible contemporary hi-jinks and pop culture references. Set amongst luxe locations in the South of France, this is a winning story of love, reminding us of the beauty of a free spirit versus predictability.

The French know how to make funny quirky romantic dramas that have a twist, and this is no exception. In many ways, it's a typical farcical comedy about a boy chasing a girl for all the wrong reasons, and then realising he's actually falling in love with her. Cute, provocative in a way, and totally watchable.

A lot of fun. I don't like the run-of-the-mill romantic comedies pumped out of the US, so if you don't either, don't let that put you off. The situations and plot are quite amusing and the actors do a great job.

As a man, I've only just recently warmed up to "chick flicks." Perhaps because I'm no longer being dragged into watching them. I'm single now and I can finally appreciate them (the good ones at least) for what they are trying to do. This one is one of the best I've seen yet! Vanessa Paradis has such a classic beauty exuding from her in every scene. It was a real pleasure to watch her character blossom because her acting is just that much fun to watch! If you like watching the power of love overcome nonsensical relationships to put everything in its right place, then this one is worth a go. Very funny and sweet with genuinely effective drama. Was pleasant with dark chocolate and coffee

The French make great movies - that's why Hollywood is always 'borrowing' their plots. This is no exception. A great French comedy and you can just see the moguls of Hollywood lining up their version. I was smiling all the way through this and at times laughing my head off. Only the French can do romance so well...and those French accents - so sexy! If you liked the British humour of 'Bridget's Jone's Diary' then you should like this. Rent it for a cold, wet night in front of a fire, with wine. Partner optional. Does have sub titles but you won't even notice. The scenes speak for themselves. Recommended.

I really liked this though I am not a usual fan of romantic comedies. It's improbable but somehow I found it easy to suspend reality and just enjoy it.

Pretty silly movie really. I understand it was supposed to be a comedy however, did not laugh once and found the whole film trite and a waste of time.

Heartbreaker : I enjioyed watching this film,it's funny and at timeswonderfully impossible to follow the plots of the sister and her husband, all the different charcters they portray, And Romain Duris is perfect in this role as the rogue heartbreaker.

The premise of this film is incredibly silly. I looked past that - many American romantic comedies are even more ridiculous after all - however there's something deeply creepy about this guy who goes around stalking women in order to break up their relationships. Romain Duris just can't pull off this vapid and somewhat misogynistic script.

Wow, it really annoys me when people give films a bad review because it's not in English. They complain about being unable to speak french and clearly they can't read english as it states 'foreign' under genre. As a result of those unable to read subtitles this movie had a low rating, but it's a great film. Very cute and easy watching - please don't watch it if you don't like subtitles!

Worst movie I have ever seen!!! If I knew it was a foreign movie I would never of got it. You would think if it was a foreign movie they would have a foreign name for the movie not HeartBreaker. But then all the songs were in English. And I couldn't even stand looking at the chick with the gap between her teeth!!! Too ugly for a movie as a main character!!

A novel but lightweight plot, scarcely believable and all rather unlikely. For a French film there is a remarkable amount of English used. from the songs to conversations. Nice scenery though.

I really liked this movie - it was a recommended to me by a friend who loves arthouse romantics - so I trusted his taste. Visiting Paris last year gave me a new appreciation for the way the french approach their film making and this movie reminded me of that trip. Watch this if you like 'Amelie'

This has become one of my favourite films of all time. I saw it once at the cinema then twice on DVD. It is hysterically funny at times - fast paced with great use of music to complement the scenes. A bit of action, a bit of intrigue, a bit of romance, a lot of comedy - this film has it all. And the amazing scenery doesn't hurt either. Brilliant performances by all 4 'leads' - no one disappoints. This is not just a chick flick - blokes love it as well. The French really know how to do a story like this. The success of this film at the cinema worldwide was so great that they are teaming up again for another film with a slightly different premise. i can't wait fro that one!
