About 30 minutes too long and a weird classical score by Aaron Copeland. But the film is worth the effort for the final showdown between Jake Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington) and Jesus Shuttliesworth (Ray Allen) and the too close to home recruitment of student-athletes. Would've gotten four stars if it had a hip-hop soundtrack.

He got game is a great movie that is held back by some a few problems that are almost becoming trademarks for the director, Spike Lee. He Got Game Stars Denzel Washington as Jake Shuttlesworth a criminal whose son, played by NBA star Ray Allen, is Jesus Shuttlesworth the number one high school prospect in the world. The warden of the prison informs Jake that if he can convince Jesus to join the big state college team his prison time will be severely reduced. The acting in this movie is top notch. Denze,l like always, delivers a very strong performance, but perhaps the more interesting performance is that of Ray Allen. Ray gives a great performance that seems subtle and understated, and when the camera is on the court he seems extremely natural. The Flick is shot gorgeously and every scene is beautiful and quite often breathtaking although like i said at the start of the review its not all good news, this flick suffers horribly from one thing and that is the length. this movie is 133 minutes long, and whie im not saying that its bad for a film to go for over 2 hours but when it seems like every scene runs 2-5 minutes too long. Spike lee has always had a problem with closure and this isn't the move where he finally works it out but it is one of his best. if you like basketball, great acting or an absolute f*ck load of cameos see this movie 3 1/2 stars
