Cult classic first time to DVD. A wandering nomad finds a robot head in the post-apocalyptic desert. He brings it back to the city and sells it to a wandering soldier. The soldier takes the robot head to his girlfriend as a gift for use in one of her sculptures... Starring Dylan McDermott and Stacey Travis. This is the uncut version from film maker Richard Stanley and produced by Bob and Harvey Weinstein.

Probably very ambitious in its day, but the years have not been kind. More a curiousity than a cult classic methinks.

A post apocolyptic world where a traveller finds a killer robot, brings it home and it runs amuck. There are moments of brilliance in this movie but these are way to few and far between to call it a classic. The transfer to digital hasn't been too kind either.

I loved this film in my teens, I still loved it after not seeing it for almost 20 years. At the time the only film that touched into killer androids was the terminator, but hardware had class. Yes it is old but has a freshness from being an original idea with an original script. This film was a first for Sci-Fi, script, soundtrack, editing & action for it's time but I'm worried that somebody seeing this for the first time would think that hardware is a bit of a "seen it before".

This is quite an old film now and could have greatly benefited from the newer CG effects. Its easy to see what the film makers were trying to achieve with an industrial grungy futuristic time but poor effects left this an awful mess. The story line is rather confusing and becomes predictable. One wonders what happened to the patriotic paint job on the robot head half way through the film?! Not sure why it has an R rating and the violence is over hyped. We sat through it but I wouldnt watch it again.
