Happy, Texas follows two escaped prisoners, Harry Sawyer (Jeremy Northam) and Wayne Wayne Wayne Jr. (Steve Zahn) whose only hope to evade the law lies in a most unusual getaway vehicle...a beat-up Winnebago.

Now, to hold onto their freedom they’ll have to assume the identity of the van’s owners: two beauty pageant producers about to set up shop in one very small Texas town...Happy. Desperate to qualify their town’s girls for the Little Miss Squeezed Pageant, something they’ve failed to do for the past quarter century, the folks of Happy, Texas thought they’d hired pros. But what they’re about to get is a couple of cons.

Quickly, Wayne and Harry discover that the local bank is ripe for the picking and the town’s two most eligible women, schoolteacher Miss Schaefer (Illeana Douglas) and the town’s banker Josephine McClintock (Ally Walker), are hungry for a little excitement. But what initially looked like an easy way to lay low is turning into everything but. With Happy’s lone lawman, Sheriff Chappy Dent, played by Academy Award nominee William H. Macy snooping around, this unlikely pair is going to have to do things, say things and be things they never dreamed.

Two escapees assume the identities of two gays. Accept this as a impractical silly teenage movie with fun characters and you might enjoy it. William H Macy is great in any movie and carry off the character well, Jeremy Northam was a pleasant surprise (bit different from his role in The Tudors ) well done. Few very funny scenes and you get a few good laughs so its a reasonable nights entertainment

Missed this when it came out years ago. this is unoffensive and good for all the troops albiet a little f word here and there. Because of the timing it is a bit original but you know the ending when it starts. just not offensive or annoying to watch and there is some fun by some great actors

This was a pleasant surprise. Steve Zahn is fantastic as Wayne Wayne Wayne Jr. Lots of funny moments that are at least a bit different to your typical film with the gay couple that aren't really gay... What ever happened to Jeremy Northam anyway?

What could be funnier than Steve Zahn pretending to be a gay beauty pageant adviser?

Happy Texas - three convicts escape from a penitentiary and find themselves embroiled in a beauty/musical pageant in a small country town. Very like the Coen brothers Oh Brother with a gay twist. Funny, clever in spots but not as good. The director makes a few unexplained jumps to get to points he wants to be. The cast, mostly unkown give good performances and William H Macy gives, as always a solid performance.
