In the cold land of Antarctica, the Emperor Penguins each express their true love with a special heartsong of their own that expresses their very being. However, the misfit Mumble cannot sing, but instead has an extraordinary talent to tap dance with almost magical energy and expression. Nevertheless, the deeply conformist leadership of the colony fearfully blames the young penguin's unorthodox ways for the lean fishing that threatens them all. Defiant in the face of unjust rejection, Mumble and his true friends set out to find the true cause of the famine. Through the motley crew's trials and perils, Mumble learns many things about his frozen world, not the least of which being that his toe tapping talent may be what he needs to save his people.

All fluff and nonsense. It was a kids movie done badly. The adult themes were clumsy and the kids entertainment was limited. My daughter prefers to watch playchool over and over again rather than this fluff piece. Not in the same league as its peers like shrek or toy story.

I thought this was a great film. The characters and voices are fantastic, the CGI is amazing. It looks so real during some scenes. The story is lovely and warm making you really sympathise with the penguins and what they're facing. I thought it had a really adventurous, exciting moral story that people of all ages can enjoy. I gave it 4/5.

I can not believe that this movie won the Oscar over Cars! There is next to no story line ? penguin tap dances instead of singing like everyone else. All the accents and funny voices make the dialogue really hard to follow. Basically it is just plain boring.

Mumble has a problem. Whilst his kind are born to sing their "heart tune" both to find a mate and to fit in, he's so "different" to the mob that he has to dance to his own tune. And boy, can he dance! Ridiculed at first for his Un-Emperor ways, Mumble learns early on that although he's different, he's ultimately Happy - within his heart. We join Mumble on an epic journey where he meets up with a different species of Penguin - those who know that if you got rythm, blues don't matter. His new found friends try to help him win the heart of Gloria - the best singer in Emperorland, but alas, she smells a rat and although fond of Mumble, she knows that being in love with someone so different is bound to cause her problems. Survival within the mob means to conform slavingly to it's rules. Mumble, though, has been different all his life, and as such knows that within him lies the strength to find out the truth of why the sea is emptying of fish... which is affecting the whole of Emperorland. Courageously daring to snub the Elders, in exile he embarks on a perilous journey to find out the truth... he has a few friends who see his strength. Although parhaps targeted at kids, this film has resonance for all of us. To dance to our tune is what makes us "us" as individuals. In ancient Greece, Aesop wrote a fable about a different sort of Emperor. The themes of this film are pretty much the same; if you dare to be different, you're not really hurting anyone by it and you're happy doing so, you may find "the mob" might learn a few new steps. Sometimes they need to, but to teach them takes faith in your own truth, and guts. No guts? No glory. The tears of joy at this film's end for this reveiwer were profound. Uplifting and beautifully animated, it comes Highly Recommended.

So much promise and so beautifully executed, yet it could have been so much better. Great flocks of penguins in synch, singing and dancing, are simply amazing. With just a bit of suspended belief, they could be real. But that’s also the problem: some things jar against the illusion. For one, the tap-dancing, a key point in the story, just doesn’t look coordinated with the sound. And so many different accents: Aussie, American, Hispanic, Scottish, you name it, just doesn’t make sense. It makes it hard for the listener, and anyway, wouldn’t one “nation” all speak with the one accent? A bit less singing and more story would’ve helped too. So disappointing overall, but worth staying with to the end; there is an obvious message.

Did not think this movie was as good as people say that it was. Story took a while to warm up and was waiting to them dance but had to wait to the end to see this by then I ws a bit bored. The beginning was cute but sad.

This movie was the best animated movie I have ever seen. I just with my 3 year, just mesmerized. In fact, I could relate to Mumble is so many ways. It was just wonderful.

I thought it was a sweet film, bearing the message that everyone has good qualities, they just have to learn how to use them and that even an so-called misfit has a part to play in the wider community.

A charming, enojyable film that maybe goes a little too long. The singing and dancing is very catchy, and there are a lot of funny moments. A terrific effort by George Miller and the Australian Animal Logic team.

Liked the movie but did feel it was too drawn out for a children's movie. Did not think it as good as what it was made out to be, the early storyline was ok and the characters were great but it lost my interest about halfway through.

Visually fantastic. Quite entertaining characters and a very clever way to convey an important message, especially to kids. The storyline was fairly basic but perhaps recent animated movies have spoiled adults too much. This one is definitely more a kids movie with a point.

Sadly, was underwhelmed. Music wasn't catchy enough (although Prince's Kiss was quite good), dancing didn't feature nearly enough to fit the title and when it did was average. The kids (3 and 5) found the leopard seal, birds of prey and the killer whales frightening. Didn't have the 'grown-up' wit of Madagascar and Shrek to keep the adults entertained. It gets the 2 paws for the animation which was great.

No story line! Nicole kidman and Hugh Jackman put on voices that are really annoying and that's comming from a NK fan! It was cute but that's about it. If you're a kid you'd like it but older than about 10 then don't bother.
