It's an interesting take on the play. Patrick Stewart plays a superb villain in Claudius, and really is the highlight of the whole thing. Polonius is wonderful as well. David Tennant as Hamlet is variable: the "fishmonger" scene with Polonius is brilliant, but the initial monologue felt like he was acting ("Stand back! I'm going to emote!").

David Tennant is an excellent Hamlet. He is, in my opinion, the right age exhibiting all the ambiguity that comes with late adolescence; be it sexuality, madness, true or not, and obsession. His is a driven Hamlet right from the moment he encounters Old Hamlet’s ghost to the final scene. It is long, well over three hours, but it has to be to do the text justice. Hamlet is the longest play in the cannon. It does not lag at all as the pace is unrelenting.

Appreciate this has been done magnificently but I did find it hard to keep the concentration levels up and follow it all.
