I don't normally watch horror movies but this series has been recommended to me as one of the most exceptional series. This movie had me sitting on the edge of my seat all the way.Great acting and music throughout the whole movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. Its not loaded with blood and guts as most of the films of that era but is very suspenseful and Carpenter makes the teenagers likeable and it makes it harder to see them die unlike a lot of recent films where the teenagers are up themselves (I know what you did last summer is a prime example except for Julie) and the killer is more exciting then the victims. The teenagers display honest emotion and care about each other which makes the film quite different from most horror films of that time. Jamie is superb in her film debu and is a pleasure to watch. Micheal escapes from Smith's groove and targets Laurie and 2 of her friends from a distance even stalking Tommy from the school to get closer and to understand his victims motives and movements in a small example. Part 2 was just as good and from there on in they ranged from excellant to average but they cant touch the 1st one. A fine beginning to an awesome series

At today's standard there is nothing extraordinary, special about this movie. In facts it is pretty sedate, but still enjoyable.

Classic horror, not to be missed. the first is always the best in most genres and this is so true with horror films. The second one is also worth watching but it doesn't have the spunk and thrills that this one delivers. Great acting, story and directing make this a very fun, inventive film even now.

One of the modern classics. From the masterful director of the all time no.1 action movie ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK comes this study of horror. Donald Pleasance as the psychiatrist is almost as creepy as the killer himself. And of course the theme music is pure genius. See it.
