It is summer, and 30-year-old Antoine is forced to leave the city to return to his family in Provence. His father is sick, so he must assume the lifestyle he thought he had shed — driving the family grocery cart from village to village, delivering supplies to the few remaining inhabitants. Accompanied by Claire, a friend from Paris whom he has a secret crush on, Antoine gradually warms up to his experience in the hills and his encounters with the villagers, their joie de vivre ultimately contagious. This French box-office hit is about the coming-of-age of a man rediscovering life and love in the countryside.

A pleasant, introspective look at some fairly normal people. Quaint would be a word that comes to mind.

Maybe I was having an off day but I struggled with the slow pace of this movie...good acting reasonable storyline...read the other reviews and make your own conclusion...I normally like this style but found it heavy going...

Good story with interesting characters. Maybe a bit too idylic and unrealistic but worth watching. Makes you want to visit rural France.

A little long but ended so quickly. A lazy trip from the city returning to the country. Absorbing the fragility of the aging human spirit, leads to knowing one's own.

What did you expect Carolyn? it's a FRENCH movie..........and a really good yarn. Why do you bother to comment, we want to know your opinion of the movie, not about whether your kids can read english.

If I could add an extra half a star, I would rate this movie 4.5. I found it to be a charming, lyrical film about families, adults finally growing up, and accepting responsibilities were none were previously desired. the French country side, with small towns and travelling grocers vans, looked idyllic, but the lives of small town inhabitants (nearly always older, watching all the young people moving away) is told in subtle ways without sentimentality. The main characters feel, act and relate to one another like people that you know - there's nothing like family for bringing out both the best and worst in others. I found it both funny, moving and beautiful to watch, and would strongly recommend it.

Pastoral, uplifting, delightful and redemptive. Lives we all aspire to live, who don't live in rural France.

Excellent actors for a weak storyline. A lot of slow bits here and there. French flick with english subtitles. You can wait it's on SBS one night.

Subtitles.A very simple story about a man that discovers a simple lifestyle that in turn encompasses involving relationships then friendships with his elderly customers. The scenery is excellently filmed. A good night's entertainment, but somewhat overrated in our view by some members.

The sort of gentle story that keeps you interested as you're not sure where it's going. Yes, it's about the simple pleasures of country life, but is that life really that good? Like anywhere, there are good things and there are bad. In many ways it's a sad story, but maybe, just maybe, there are better times ahead.
