Actors: Ben Stiller, Greta Gerwig, Rhys Ifans, Chris Messina, Mark Duplass, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brie Larson, Juno Temple

Roger Greenberg (Ben Stiller), single, forty-ish and at a crossroads in his life, finds himself in Los Angeles, house-sitting for six weeks for his more successful/married-with-children brother. In search of a place to restart his life, Greenberg tries to reconnect with old friends including his former band mate Ivan (Rhys Ifans). But old friends aren't necessarily still best friends, and Greenberg soon finds himself spending more and more time with his brother's personal assistant Florence (Greta Gerwig), an aspiring singer and also something of a lost soul. Despite his best attempts not to be drawn in, Greenberg and Florence manage to forge a connection, and Greenberg realises he may at last have found a reason to be happy.

Have to agree with all the bad reviews - this was quite simply awful. Characters you really couldn't give a damn about, painful dialogue and a complete downer from beginning to end. I don't like Ben Stiller at the best of times and this movie hasn't changed my opinion of him. Note to self - read the reviews before ordering the movie!

Rather dull, shallow characters, felt like giving a lot of them a slap. Grow up the lot of you.

Surprised it even got 1 and 1/2 stars ? Even Ben Stiller couldn't save this one. Depressing.

Who wrote the dialogue/screenplay? Do they REALLY talk like that in the US? Stiller was off his beaten track with this and more than likely a little off his chump.

An action movie it isn't. In fact, very little happens. And a comedy it's not. Unless feeling sad and miserable about life having passed by at 40 is funny. But 40 is still young enough to make a connection with a 25 year old, as becomes apparent. So it is a love story in a strange sort of way. Overall, it's an intriguing and unusual character study.

Don't waste your time or money - the worst film Stiller has made by far.

I wish I had read the reviews before I wasted my money hiring this. I'm not sure what part fell within the 'comedy' genre. I'm a Ben Stiller fan, but this was boring and had no richness or depth at all. PS - it's hard to write these reviews when there are popups that cover up half the screen so you can't see what you've written!!

A terribly boring slow movie! The worst Ben Stiller movie. I watched it until the very end, hoping that something interesting would happen - but was even more disappointed with the ending. Don't waste your time watching it, as it really is that poor. What a waste of 2 hours of my life!!!!!

I wouldn't have believed it - but really is THE lousiest movie. SO slow it is painful. No true character depth and just weird. After forcing myself through the whole movie, then ending was even worse. Do not bother. Don't understand what producer or the actors were thinking?!?!

This movie was so boring. Watched it until about the halfway mark and fell asleep. Tried again the next night, but it was still dull... so didn't finish it.

Odd movie, I didn't really enjoy it that much. I am a fan of Ben Stiller, but would say this isn't his finest moment in movie history.

I'm glad I gave this movie a viewing, despite the reviews. This is a quiet, reflective story of a man making amends for his regrets and trying to get his life together. It's a drama, with occasional subtle and clever humour. And for those who think actors must just play one type of role, I say... do you just want to do the same old thing for the rest of your life? I would have given it 2.5 stars if I could have, not brilliant - but still worth watching.

I feel I have to stick up for this movie - I really enjoyed it! Maybe not the best Baumbach picture, but if you are a fan then there is much to like. Stiller and Gerwig's relationship is original and funny. Definitely worth a look.
