Director: Barry Levinson
Actors: Robin Williams, Forest Whitaker

The wrong man, in the wrong place, at the right time.
Robin Williams shakes up 1965 Saigon in a role he was born to play - irreverent, nonconformist deejay Adrian Cronauer. Imported by the Army for an early a.m. radio show, Cronauer blasts the formerly staid, sanitised airwaves with a constant barrage of rapid-fire humour and the hottest hits from back home. The G.I.s love him - but the brass is up in arms! Riddled with sidesplitting comic bombshells and studded with hot '60s hits, Good Morning Vietnam depicts Cronauer's raucous Saigon adventures amid a world gone mad.

A very unusual movie dealing with the war in Vietnam, it is probably some of Robin William's best comedy - absolutely hilarious. The dramatic elements are also very effective and the antagonist Sgt Major Dickerson is the essential evil manipulator. Great movie.

Robin Williams, what can I say..... this guy makes this movie ! Excellent acting and excellent story line, though, some portions were cut out from the original movie I saw at the picture show years ago. It is disappointing that this form of editing happens to movies sold in Australia. That aside, Good Morning Vietnam is totally brilliant !.... I give it 8 out of 5 !! The original Adrian Cronauer interview on the DVD is also a great insight to the character. What a ripper of a movie ! The Bonus stuff is excellent ! Forrest Whitaker is clever as always......the tow Bookends (censor 1 and 2) (Dan & Don Stanton, are themselves amusing ! Bruno Kirby's character Lt. Steven Hauk is a total nut-job, a guy on his own ego-trip, but he is integral to the plot.

Not especially funny although it tries very hard. More about the stupidity of war and those involved in it. Watching this, what comes to mind is that 45 years later the Americans still haven't understood the futility of it all.

This movie doesn't really focus on the war, even though it set in the middle of one. It focuses on a controversial radio DJ who entertains the troops with his morning and afternoon broadcasts and how he forms relationships/friendships with locals and fellow troops. It's funny how they have 2 censors who have to censor the news before he reads it on air.

Golden Oldie! Robin Williams is fantastic in this movie. The humour that comes out of his mouth on the spur of the moment is unbelievable. This is not a war movie per se, but rather it focuses on the antics of a radio DJ for the army while in Saigon.

Robin Williams Brilliant, an eye opener. Taken right behind the scenes, shown what really goes on and how the top brass behave, think and react.

Robyn Williams at his best! As an Army radio announcer, he provides the wakeup call for the troops as well as for his stodgy superiors, who don't like his brand of humour. The troops love him as does a beautiful Vietnamese girl. It's the girl's brother that provides the surprise twist to the plot. This is a classic.
