A Cavalry Captain is sent to join a frontier regiment, only to find a General obsessed with defeating the combined local Indian forces, even at the cost of his men's lives. As well as writing the screenplay, this is one of the earliest directing gigs for the legendary Sam Peckinpah ("The Wild Bunch") who is uncredited due to being replaced by Arnold Laven mid way through production.
