Why make the same story over and again, with only different actors and only slight variations in the story.
8 out of 10 better than the swedish version
Really good - I didn't know what to expect - but thought it was excellant. Very Graphic scenes - make sure the kids are in bed!
The question is why? Why remake this film and still try to make it Scandinavian...ish especially so soon after the original (and great film series). I did not dislike it but really was the original such a risk for US movie goers?
do not send me blue ray dvd as i cannot view them
Surprisingly faithful to the book. Quite well acted and paced although a few changes to the original storyline were disappointing. Worthwhile viewing.
This is the first (I think) in a series ... but the follow on movie "The Girl Who Kicked a Hornet' Nest" has completely different actors. The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo was probably a lot better as a book because at times it was hard to follow - but it seemed to come together in the end - except the main conspiracy wasn't clear throughout the movie and the main plot seemed to be a completely different story at the end. It was a bit confronting and horrific in a few scenes - DEFINATELY NOT FOR CHILDREN ... it was on par with "Wolf Creek".
But it was a good movie - the main actor who play Lizbeth was quite remarkable ... The plot is about a girl who suffered terrible things not only at home, but whilst in 'the system' as a ward of the state. She ends up like a sociopath but with only revenge on her mind. There is another subplot which is later clearer in the other movie (although not done that well)... and seems like it is far too true a story.
.
Agreed with other reviewers here. This movie is not for the faint hearted, but it rewards your staying power in so many ways. Smart, intense, extreme. Can't wait for the next installment !
Good movie, no big heroic action, to be watched by Adult only!!
A really compelling movie , the lead actress is confronting but also mezmerising. Story is a beauty , violence is extreme. This is one movie that we thought about long after it finished. Super , highly recommended
