An exciting if not quite satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, resting yet again on the shoulders of Noomi Rapace. She is 'vulnerable' in two scenes only - where she wants and needs to say 'thank you' and can't.
i missed the second movie of this trilogy .... (hopefuly next week !!)
but an excellent movie in it s own right...
Very realistic excellent acting ... great story line, plenty twists and turns
It is in Swedish with subtitles which adds to the realism of the story!
After I want to see them all at once so I can appreciate all the details I have missed !!!
a good length (147min)
I think this is solid cinema. I am not hugely excited about it, but I think its solid (appropriately well made) cinema. Noomi Rapace does the job and so does MIchael Nyqvist. The Daniel Craig effort was more glamourous but these movies tell the story. 3.5/5
loved the movie, but must admidt have to keep up with the subtitles
Loved it, as good or better than the other two.
Possibly not as enjoyable as the other two in the series, but does bring the plot together. Continuity from the previous film is well done.
Does a good job keeping to the book storyline and well worth watching to get the foreign feel.
I really enjoyed the Swedish trilogy of the Larsson books about Lisbeth Salander. Fast paced and true to the story line. Very easy to keep up with the subtitles, doesn't slow you down. Just sorry there are only three!!
Really liked the actress Noomi Rapace in the role of Lizbeth Salander, far better than the American actress in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (US). I think Rapace's role really sells the Swedish trilogy of the films. However, I did find that I was disappointed with what was actually in the film, or rather not in it. In the novel, I found that the most entertaining aspect was Salander's interaction with her contacts in Hacker Nation. Only the character of Plague was included in the film and in a very minor role. I also felt that Erika Burger was not portrayed as the strong, capable woman that she so typified in the novel, particularly in the last novel. I realise that the film would have been a lot longer to include more about Berger and Hacker Nation, but I feel the film suffered as a result, hense I feel that this film was more along the lines of an 'account' of the novel, and lacking in some key areas. Still, it was worth seeing.
Great movie. It is nice how it ties the first movies together and keeps the continiuity flowing. I have no problems with subtitles.
This followed on from "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" although with completely different actors. AND IS SUBTITLED. Definately ADULTS ONLY.
It was SBS style and the whole plot and dialogue quite difficult to follow ... one of those movie that, if you watched it again would be a lot clearer. The book was probably a heck of a lot better than the movie.
Really great movie loved it apart from the sub-titles
A good rendition of the fabulous book series.
not as good as the first two, but great
Loved the movie, loved the series, I don't know why people can't get past subtitles, still able to easily read and watch.
Slightly different to the book story but really enjoyed it. Great acting, great story
Did not get past the first 5 minutes. Had not realised this was a foreign movie. Do not enjoy trying to follow the film while reading the script.
Excellent, loved this series of films
its distracting when you have to read the subtitles
Excellent except for sub titles, missed some of the action because still reading stupid sub titles.
greatmovie follows the book very well
This is really the best one in the series, but you wont understand it till you see the other ones. Very clever ending. loved it
This is the third in this fantastic series - if possible watch the first two before you see this. This movie wraps up the story. Noomi Rapace is brilliant. Note that this is the Swedish subtitled version - in the author's own language!
Subtitles cannot diminish the brilliance of this, and the other two, films in the series.
Do not like sub titles did not watch it all.. You must understand the older you get the less ability you have to read sub titles
If you have seen part or parts of this triology, watch the rest, not bad viewing,
subtitled if you can manage it, above average drama, in a SBS or World Movie
type of format.
I haven't read the book this time, so I can't compare it with the movie. I was not nearly as impressed by this as the other two in the series. It was a bit all over the place. Lots of action again, but although the story was still clear I found myself totally uninterested in what was going on at Millenium and in the people that worked there. I found Erika and Michael quite wooden, not sure whether that was the screenplay or their acting. Anyway it was a disappointing climax for me. The first i the series "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" was far more engaging.
Although I'm not one for movies with subtitles or sexual violence, I must admit that I enjoyed the Millennium trilogy and the way the story was wrapped up so neatly in the end.
couldn't watch as had sub titles
Errr me? It does say it's a Swedish language film... sheesh! Can't understand people who whinge about subtitles, unless there's a good reason for it (like vision problems).
not in english nowhere did it say this is a subtiltled movie - rather painfull
Loved the series. Watched this one straight after the second movie in the series. Would recommend the three to anyone.
The best movies for intrigue and suspense, keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through, must see the 3 movies in the series
I had not long finished reading the trilogy and I really enjoyed the film, it seemed to capture the characters as described in the book and for most part the screenplay was very good.
The worst movie ever made. Subtitled all the way through. Very dark theme and hard to follow (subtitles didn't help!)
Fabulous. Neither this or the Girl Who Played With Fire were as good as the first one as there was a different director and it strayed a bit too much from the book but Noomi Rapace was terrific in all of them.
A great way to wrap up the trilogy. Very long, but it is put together so well, that you just get caught up in it. It may be a little confusing if you haven't seen the first two. I am going to avoid the English version. I have been quite satisfied with the originals!
Excellent Trilogy - looking forward to new version in English
Terrific. You hardly notice reading subtitles in these types of movies because you get so wrapped up in it.
I was initially a bit distracted by having to read subtitles - but soon got used to it. An entertaining movie - worth watching at least once.
great final 3rd movie in the trilogy
looking foward to the remakes by hollywood with no subtitles
Being foreign with subtitles it is unwatchable
I could not watch this movie as it was in a foreign language. It may have been good, but unfortunately not in my language.
What a dud, bad acting, lack of character detail.....the only saving grace WAS the subtittles!
a great ending to the trilogy!
Fantastic end to the Millenium Trilogy. Brings it all together. Very well done, in that gloomy Swedish way.
great movie I dont usually watch a movie with subtitles.
The only gripe if any was the ending was not what I expected.
AFTER WATCHING THIS.. HMM HOLLYWOOD FILMS ARE ALL RUBBISH..
IM SO HOOKED.. AND EVERYONE IN THE OFFICE.. WE ARE I.T. GEEKS OVER HERE.. SO IF SOMEONES LOOKING FOR AN EROTIC, HACKER, COMPUTER STUFF.. THIS IS IT..
great movie, didn't detract from the book at all and very well acted
This trilogy of books has been very closely reflected in the movies. I loved the books and the movie did not let me down! Particularly when it is subtitled throughout which did not distract you. A great movie trilogy which was refreshingly close to the written word. Great scandinavian scenery too!
What a shame it wasn't in English, looked like it would have been a good movie but we don't do subtitles. Wish we had been warned.
I enjoyed this movie very much, I think you need to see the 3 movies in order to follow what is going on.
Was disappointed with this movie. Wasn't expecting a movie with subtitles which were often written over a white background so you could barely read them. Seemed to be a very boring movie until the court scene at the end. Wouldn't recommend it.
Yes, yes and YESsss. This series is a must-watch.
Having seen the first two you need to see the third. However, don't think it was as good as the first two. Somewhat of an anti-climax.
After reading the trilogy, I was not convinced that the movies would do justice to the author, but I was very wrong. This trilogy of movies was true to the novels, and extremely gripping. The choice of actors was amazing, just what I'd pictured while reading the books. The death of Lars Steiger is a terrible loss to the literary world.
Quite a good conclusion to this trilogy - well worth watching if you got past the 2nd part of the story!
Loved the books but got a bit bored with this one - would be difficult to follow without having read the books.
Was very disappointed with this movie, although the story line was great didnt like it for the fact it was in another lanuage and you had to read sub - titles all the way through it, only watch 15 mins then sent it back!
Despite finding this movie a little hard to follow initially (too many old dudes who all looked similar), even though we've watched the previous two movies, we still really enjoyed the suspense of TGWKTHN and trying to guess where it was going and what the ending might be. Noomi Rapace is excellent as always, she is the master (mistress!) of self control and self-containment, not to mention the staredown, I find the character Lisbeth Salander fascinating! Nowhere near as much action as the previous movies and lacking the punch of the first movie, it is still rivetting viewing. Cannot believe people won't watch a sub-titled movie, I love movies from other cultures!
Having read the three books and now watched the three movies, I was impressed how the movies reflected the books. The movie was excellent and I recommend seeing it especially for those who have read the books. However, my partner had not read the books and still enjoyed the movies and had no trouble following the story line.
Regret not watching "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" first because it made the first 30 mins hard to follow. But once I was up to speed it was a really intense and psychological journey. The other half slept thorugh it so clearly not for everyone :)
This was a fantastic movie. Subtitles didn't bother me, I knew they were there but the story was excellent. I would highly recommend reading the books first, makes dealing with the subtitles easier. As always, there is so much action and tension in this movie, I was engrossed. Big fan ;-)
very dissapointed did not know it was subtitles
Lot of suspense and a good finish to the trilogy.
there was no indication that the movie was in another language with english sub-titles so i didn't bother watching it through, what i did see i didn't like.
Waste of time. Watched the trailer and nowhere did it say it was a foreign or sub titled film and unfortunately I didn't scroll down to read all of the reviews.
Not as good as the first movie, much better than the second movie. Thus it is a great movie :)
Not something I would normally watch but really enjoyed it.
This was a bit difficult to 'get into' at the start - too much happening in various screen flashes and not easy to follow initially trying to adjust to foreign language and English text - but was a great story - well worth it
If you do not mind subtitles and can read fast the movie is good. Full of intrigue and family tradegy mixed with some spionage
A very interesting story, this film does follow the book fairly well, but to get the best from it, you need to have read the three books first, its a shame that the pictures do not follow the same sequence.
If you've not seen the third part of this great trilogy or the other two for that matter, watch them! Mark my words, they will become cult classics, and the sad thing is Stieg Larsson will never know the success of his stories, as he died before the books were even published. (Lucky his partner who was a big contributor to the them is still around).
Last of the trilogy. If possible watch all three in succession as it gives you a better insight into the plot. I loved it.
jDidn't see that it was sub-titled and because of that didn't watch it.
Well made, and well acted.....with a so-so story line, but, a somewhat boring flick....Made along similar lines to European movies/shows, on SBS.
Fantastic and cleverly written drama series
liked the first and second ones better. bit of a letdown.
Found this 'hard going'. Hadn't read the book so wa behind from the start.
Fantastic wish he did more of this triology it was soooooo good enjoyed all 3
As with all three movies, an excellent interpretation of a fairly in depth book. Absolutely worth seeing.
A good enough film to conclude the series although its the weakest of the 3 films. Bit of a slow start but finishes well. Definitely worth watching.
was very diappointing but prob only not my taste
With great anticipation I waited for the third instalment. I was not disappointed.
Action packed with the "girl" surving a near death experience. Also, the film highlighted the use of computer hacking in gaining valuable information.
Having read the books I was keen to see the last in the trilogy, and wasn't disappointed, although my husband, who hadn't read the books thought it was a bit slow. I guess the third book ties in all the political parts which makes it a bit harder to follow if you haven't read the books, but overall I really enjoyed the movies. Movies are never as good as books !!
Enjoyed this installment the least, Dragon tattoo the best by far, loved the characters (Lisbeth is awesome) and the actors were brilliant. The trilogy ended the best way it could, sad that there won't be anymore due to Steig's death but thankful for what he did get to write.
I am not usually into Foreign films with sub titles (keep having to try & read) & unfortunately did not realise this was the final of a trilogy...so wish I had seen the others first. It is a very long movie, but ultimately enjoyable with a satisfying ending !
Great conclusion to the Millennium Trilogy, although I was a little sad it was the last one! The characters are fantastic and Noomi Rapace is just brilliant as Lisbeth Salander. I just wish I knew what happened to the characters after the movie ended...
They made a good start to the trilogy, let themselves down in the second instalment but more than made up for that in this final episode. But overall none of the films were as good as the books
A good conclusion to the Millenium trilogy. Now I'll have to read the books.
A well acted final chapter in the the Millenium trilogy, but it felt like just the conclusion of a long story without any new tension or interest as in the previous two chapters.
You need to have read the book to appreciate
Another fantastic movie in this series, although not quite in the same league as the first for me. A lot more explanation here (although I did lose track of who was who a few times!) but not quite as much action in this one. Enjoyed the court scene as things came to light in Lisbeth's favour but a bit disappointed with the brief ending.
A fantastic movie, a bit disappointed with the ending!
another franchise i am very keen on, not quite sure exactly what it is, just very well executed i think
Excellent sequel to the trilogy. Absolutely loved it! The court scene in particular has stayed with me.
The weakest of the three movies. Too much time is spent going over previous events and when it does move on, it's to overly complex and confusing meetings of conspirators and a drawn-out court case, Nonetheless it makes for a compelling conclusion to the trilogy. Had it been the first film it would have been a great disappointment.
Excellent conclusion to the trilogy, the writing has been top notch. Usually the 2nd or 3rd movie in a trilogy are not up to 1st - but we have found all 3 movies have been excellent.
I was lucky enough to watch the first (dragon tattoo) dubbed in English (It was done quite well) instead of watching it in Swedish with subtitles. No option to do that with this DVD, but at least the subtitles are white and easier to see than the yellow of the previous movies.
Have to agree, not as good as the first but still good to see the bad guys get their come uppance. A lot of the subplots in the book were too complex to include in the screenplay I guess
Although I enjoyed this to a degree, I didn't enjoy it as much as the first two in this trilogy. It was good to see how everything finished up.
Very compelling story. Stays with you. Good casting too. At least as good as the others in the trilogy.
I think the consensus on this one will be "better than the second film but not as good as the first". You know what you're getting with this "Girl" and there are no real surprises. The action is good, Lisbeth is still a star, and the bad guys lose in the end. Tak Steig!
