Well acted in a controlled sort of way - never goes too far (as a lot of American films are prone to do) - and is believable

Its enjoyable with very quirky and memorable characters. Its a little hard to get use to not seeing Zach Braff as his quirky character in Scrubs but

One of my favourite films, it's one that I can watch again and again. The quirky characters, offbeat humour and tons of heart make it a joy to watch (and re-watch)

I was shocked and dismayed to find out that some of my friends actually like this poorly conceived bunch of nothing. I tell friends who like this movie "When you die, I will still come to your funeral. But I may not cry". Without doubt, one of the worst movies ever made.

Definatley one of the more 'real' movies I've seen in a while. The converations flow like any you would have with your own friends and everything just seems natural in terms of story flow and character interaction.

I absolutely love this movie. Garden State is one of those movies I love to watch every now and then. Zach Braff is a brilliant actor but wow this movie shows his writing and directing skills as well. This is one of those quirky finding yourself movies that you come across every now and then. I think everyone can see a little bit of themselves in one of the characters and that's what makes it so special and a joy to watch. I get something new out of it each time I watch it.

Truly original. Zach Braff is a major talent and Natalie Portman if the best young actress around today. Recommended if you go for a quirky comedy/drama

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Interesting plot. I have often wondered what is in store for the kids who have been on drugs for the (questionable) disease ADD since early childhood. Its too sad to think how many great minds have been lost to these drugs. Fit into our box or we will drug you into submission.

I was already a big fan of Zach Braff from his work on Scrubbs but this movie has made me a much bigger one. This is a fantastic, quirky film that I thoroughly enjoyed and may well buy. Watch it.

Definitely a must see movie. Fantastic character depth, moving story supported by a fantastic cast. Zach Braff is outstanding. It has its share of laugh out loud moments but also pulls at your heart strings. You can't help but to care for the characters. Natalie Portman is endearing. What can I say ... I laughed and I cried. Its everything a movie should be.

Plot is a pretty standard "quirky person shows uptight person how to live and love", but the acting and script are great, making this fun to watch.

Not as good as was lead to believe from reviews at the time the movie came out. The story line didn't do much for me and was ultimately boring. The performances in the movie are fine, but it needed something more. And the story could be anywhere - there is really nothing specific about the Garden State (New Jersey).

This movie starts of very, very slow and you really don't understanding where the characters are heading with the storyline. Yet by the end of the movie you grow to love and somewhat respect the characters. Fans of Zach from Scrubs will get a surprise at his serious side which is very endearing. Natalie is once a again strong in her performance.

This is one of those movies that left me thinking about life and the choices we make. It started slow and slightly disjointed but once it got its pace I was hooked. Fantastic characters and storylines. It's now on my list of all time faves that I'll watch again and again.

This movie has some charms. It has good music and some likeable characters and events. Andrew's history, however, is unconvincing. The changes in him as he awakens are understated or not interesting enough. The plot line: "A colourless young man falls in love, becomes very slightly more colourful and decides to give up his medication." For a much richer film that has similar low key atmosphere, see 'Lost in Translation'

It has some great moments of visual comedy (the dipolma on the ceiling), but Zach Braff's crush on Natalie Portman was not enough to sustain an entire film.
