Far out - violence alert. Be warned. If you can get past that, this is very cool. What a great idea for a series (and subsequently a film). The main character was quite likeable, and the Japanese flavour was such a refreshing change. Check out the sequel too!
I think "DJ" sums it up very well, "Weird movie, but what a ride". Very strange-oddball but I liked it a lot. (The wife didn't). I had come across or heard about the "Gantz" series and found it initially a little challenging to follow however it was enjoyable. Not a genre that would necessarily appeal to everyone, not as funny as men in black but in some ways a similar genre.
My son and I enjoyed this immensely. Of course we enjoyed Sukiyaki Western Django as well, so caveat emptor.
Entertaining! There's a few peculiar things about it (the typical Japanese angst, their refusal to use their guns even when you're yelling at the screen) but it's a great story and well told. It says "to be continued" right at the end... is there a sequel?
Weird movie, but what a ride. If you are into oddball Japanese movies with action, monsters, special effects, alternate realities, space-jump-suits and more, this is for you. Great fun but it takes a while to figure out whats going on.
If you liked the series you'll like this!
this is my first look at 'gantz', so not knowing previous series, comics etc. i was a little baffled at times trying to keep up with what the intention was, but, having said that, this is very well done, good effects, different interesting story so hence very welcomed, ignoring 'foreign attribute' (english subtitles), still easy to keep track of the story. Overall i found this to be very good. Well worth the watch
