I only saw half, because the disc played up after "Intermission", so I can't give the whole movie a rating, but what I saw was excellent. Acting credible, sets/props/costumes really good, storyline somewhat idealised, dialogue occasionally clunky - but well worth seeing.

Gandhi has to be one of the greatest leaders in history to achieve so much with so little bloodshed with their colonists (the British) yet the Muslims and Hindus shed so much of their own blood.

It was a masterpiece of cinema and story telling when I watched it 30 years ago, and it has stood the test of time. An inspirational film about the life of a truly inspirational man.

This is the film that got me into films. Both technically and emotionally brilliant - it was the film I saw when I was about 13/14 and will remember it as the motion picture that taught me the power of storytelling.

A magnificent cast and thus superb acting. The film delves deeply into the inner Ghandi and explains to us who are comparatively ignorant of his biography many of the reasons for his decisions and actions. A deeply moving film.

If only... I never truly appreciated what this man achieved in his lifetime until I say this film. This is not a film of politics, dispite what Ghandi achieved, it's a story of humanity. Ben Kingsley was excellent.
