The insanity of command well portrayed
An Australian classic, great to watch again, and my children aged 12 and 10 enjoyed it too.
If you don't read much and don't know much about Aussie history, this film can be educational as well as entertaining. Gallipoli holds up to this day and always will. War is tragic, messed up and a waste of human life, but films like this need to be made and watched so "least we forget".........
Love the historical background.
An australian Classic, should be watched before the ashes next year just to hate the POMS more
A classic aussie movie. We all should see this one at least once in your life!
Magnificent portrayal of Australia's involvement in WWI. Some heart wrenching scenes and some great "typically Aussie" moments. A must-see for any and every Australian.
This movie is an Australian classic and still moves me to tears as it did when I first saw it back in 1981. A wonderful portrayal of the Aussie larrikin character and of our brave young men who went overseas for adventure and to do their duty to Queen and country but ended up fighting a battle they could not win and were tragically slaughtered. My 2 boys, age 7
As a young teenager this was the first movie I ever cried over. As an adult it still has impact - to me it now illustrates the futility of war, whatever side you're on. Beautifully filmed and exceptional performances by all. A must-see.
awesome movie, i just love it, one of my all time favourites
This movie was unlike most War movies where the emphasis is often on providing an historical account of the Battles. Peter Weir presented the human and tragic story behind some of the combatants.
Have always been a fan of director peter weir but thought was not one of his best.
I had never seen this movie before. I found it stimulating; enjoyed ever minute.
