Her life is no fairytale. Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon (Walk The Line) stars as Vanessa in this twisted take on “Little Red Riding Hood”, spattered with dark humour and graphic violence. After her drug addicted prostitute mother and child molester stepfather are arrested, Vanessa runs away to find her estranged grandmother. This is when Bob (Kiefer Sutherland, 24), a seemingly decent guy, offers Vanessa a lift. However Bob is in really a pedophilic serial killer searching for his next victim. When Vanessa realizes Bob is the I-5 killer, a frenzied confrontation follows and she shoots him three times. Miraculously Bob survives, is put back together minus a few pieces and proceeds to unleash his lust for revenge against Vanessa. Buckle up as Freeway cuts a corrosive path to its haunting finale, taking you where other films fear to tread, and proving this is no fairytale!

Interesting to see a young Reese in a role very different to what we'd see her in today. Lots of swearing! A young girls mother and stepfather are sent to jail and the girl decided to go find her paternal grandmother. Along the way, her car beaks down and she gets picked up by a serial killer. She ends up shooting him and leaving him for dead. She then gets arrested and sent to juvie. The man and his wife try to get justice against Vanessa, even though he is a serial killer.

I was intrigued by this film just by what others had said. My expectations had lived up to their reviews. A very dark, gritty black comedy thriller (if you will), a take on the old story 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Little Red (Vanessa, played by Witherspoon) is on Freeway ride of her life as she tries to leave everything behind her in search for her Grandmother. On the way she runs into Mr. Wolferton (Sutherland) who she befriends, seeking the comfort and guidance she's been craving for. But he has other plans in store for her, unfortunately 'Bob' has bitten off more than he can chew and Vanessa doesn't turn out to be so helpless after all. A wolf and girl chase ensues as the battle to reach grandma starts to take a very nasty turn. I give it 4/5 "My what big teeth you have."

Great movie. Witherspoon and Sutherland are inspired casting. My husband and I quote lines from this one all the time. Definitely worth a look for those who enjoy the alternative.

It's a shame the rating system doesn't go in the negative because this movie certainly deserves to be rated NEGATIVE !! What a waste of time. What were Keifer and Reese thinking???????

This movie was disgusting(what we watched of it)it is such a shame that such good actors feel the need to act in such vulgar movies, it will make us think twice before ordering Sutherland or Witherspoons movies EVER again. They have been such favorites too.
