Seen on television yes; but to get the movie out to watch without ads is great!
I'm sorry but I just don't understand the attraction of this movie. At the core of the plot is a simpleton who stumbles onto discoveries that stretch credibility way beyond breaking point. Tom Hanks gives a fine performance but I couldn't identify with his character in any way. Other than all those historical coincidences there is nothing more to this film. Totally contrived saccharine.
A great movie.. I cried, laughed, and cried some more....What lessons we can learn from this movie... Part of life can be 'your destiny.. the rest is accident like a feather in the wind' which is clearly shown by the parallel lives of Jenny and Forrest... Who is stupid, who is smart? "I am not smart, but I know what love is"
A must see for everyone, and every time you see it, you will find new gems!
Simply a lovely movie. It's nice to watch and I discover something I missed previously each time I watch it.
It should be called Forrest Gimp!
Easily the greatest movie I've ever seen.
Anyone can watch it, enjoy it and relate to it. I don't think I've ever come across a person who hasnt enjoyed this. It's also extremely quotable with so many lines you can say over and over and laugh at but also take some good advice out of it. "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get"
I just love this movie. Tom Hanks is just the most versatile actor ever. I relive it through the soundtrack I stumbled on at Sanity one day.
I never tire of this film.
This is one of the all time greats.I would higly recommend this to all who can see beyond them selves. If you look at it with open eyes,it has a lot to teach us.
Poor Forrest is sitting on a bench, a feather on his shoe telling his life story to anyone who wants to listen. He seems to be retardet. When a teen ager he suffers what appears to be polio having to wear supports on his legs. At school he is bullied severely but makes friends with a lovely girl who encourages him to run Forrest run. Which he does essentially for the rest of his life acheaving remarkable feats of endurance. He is haled by presidents, given medals in the war and become a champion at whatever is put in front of him. A must see film.
When a filmmaker like Robert Zemekis and an actor like Tom Hanks get together to make a film loosely based on a character that they don't completely understand, with an ending that they cannot see - what we get is a real exploration of the human spirit. These guys made Forest Gump spontaneously, intuitively, one day at a time, blissfully and frightfully unaware of what the next day would bring - it was a real soul-search experience for the creators of this film, and it really shows, because when you put that much of your soul into creating something, it is damn well going to affect your audience.
Life is indeed lika a box of chocolates.
Utmost 'Second' best movie of all time!
(next to The Shawshank Redemption) :-)
This is Tom Hanks greatest, which says it all considering he's only ever been in a few duds before. Not only was Tom perfect for his role, this entire film is brilliant, from story line to sound track. Everything and everyone combines and comes together perfectly to make this film a masterpiece.
This was worth watching again - Tom Hanks was just brilliant as was Sally Field. Just great!
Tom Hanks proves again what a great & versatile actor he is as this was his second back-to-back Oscar winning role, right after "Philadelphia". Two more different stories & different parts you could not find. I was a bit dubious thinking it could have been mawkish with the "slow" character tugging at the heart strings but found it funny, a bit sad without being maudlin, & very cleverly put together, especially with Forrest appearing in the live TV news coverage of Presidential & other big news events of the period. All in all, a very "satisfying" movie. I'd happily watch it again.
I think this is one of Tom Hanks best! Of course, I'm a fan and have loved him in everything he's done. A movie and an actor worth watching again and again!
One of the great movies. Tom Hanks plays his difficult role
with delicacy and conviction. In a way, reminiscent of "Being There", it entertains and keeps the surprises coming. Gary
Sinese in the main supporting role is magnificent.Well worth
the second viewing after a long break, Highly recommended
Being a Tom Hanks fan, this is not to be missed. So many highlights including a great soundtrack.
Tom Hanks stars as Forrest Gump in this movie about this mans life and how different a life he has from the normal, worth a look but seems a little slow at times.
Everyone found Forrest adorable, I found him irritating. This movie is far too long. The only positive is the soundtrack which is fantastic.
Suitable for all the family. A very funny classic.
Original epic that spans the latter half of the 20th century. The story is very involving and the casting is brilliant.
An excellent movie. Good to watch with friends and family. About friendships in life. The behind-the-scene disc is not to be missed!
A classic life journey whicdh avoids sentimentality by just a smidgin. The music is great for any 50-60 year old. Forrest is the classic "idiot-savant".Great for film study in High Schools
