Stick to the original unless you need a good sleep
A brilliant film. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were played well, the cinematography and soundtrack were both excellent. The plane crash scene is also a must-view. Also, check out the 1965 version if you liked this one. Enjoy!
Great team movie, very inspiring and thrilling
Thought it was a great show- My wife & i enjoyed it
Don't bother, how could they spend so much money and end up with such tripe! Boringly predictable.
very entertaining and kept our interest all through the film
Not even near the original!
not even near the original!
not bad but was a little boring at times
40 minutes into the movie and I was still waiting for something to happen. No strong characters, I didn't even finish watching it!!
Definately worth watching!Great crash sequence & survival tale with a difference.
I was happily surprised to find that in my opinion, this remake was better than the original. Great action scenes with strong acting made this movie a pleasure to watch!
Anyone with a decent stereo system would have to be beware of the fuel exploding scene, which nearly blew me out of the lounge room!!
One of my long-time favourite movies, although I suspect that this one was a remake. My recollection is that the "aircraft designer" was played by Hardy Kruger in the earlier version, if I'm correct in my surmise on the remake. (Can anyone confirm?)
Whatever, I think this movie is just marvellous. A great, almost believable scenario of survival, with a stunning plane crash sequence to rival much later movies like "Castaway", and an excellent cast to support the harrowing adventure/disaster theme. I could watch this movie endlessly (and no doubt will in the future)!
Great movie, had it all action and suspence, I had never heard anything about this movie so it was a little pleasent susprise to see such a good movie and a great twist at the end, a must for all action fans.
James Stewart must be writhing in his grave! This is possibly the worst re-make I have ever seen. stilted acting, weird continuity, cliches abound. A big fat NO!
A good cast selection with everyone playing their role convincingly, but the movie is stolen by Giovanni Ribisi in his portrayal of Elliot; the insipid free loading weakling of the stranded cast. As a remake it doesn't have the intensity of the original but if you have never seen the original, this movie is quite entertaining.
Why someone would ever attempt to remake such a classic movie and turn it into such drivell is beyond me. Do yourself a favour and hire the 1965 version instead
Good remake. A bit far-fetched but it only a movie right. Strong cast helps it along - probably shoudl have still been set in the 50s as the mobile phone and plam pilot bit seems a bit out of place.
An excellent remake of an old classic. Plenty of suspense in this adventure/thriller of survival, when communication between people in a desperate situation finally bonding together and great communication levels finally prevail for the betterment of all. Denis Quaid was great, but to me Giovanni Ribisi stole the movie with his portrayal of the eccentric Elliot. A great film to watch, but don't try to compare it to the original. Enjoy it for itself.
Good remake of movie, I felt that as it was moved forward in time the technology that should have been there was not. Perhaps the general public know much more now about how things work and it would have been better left in the old time frame.
