The Biggest Dreams Take The Most Courage Flicka is a contemporary adaptation of Mary O’Hara’s beloved novel, My Friend Flicka, which, unlike its predecessors, features a female lead. This new version tells the story through the eyes of headstrong Katy McLaughlin (Alison Lohman). Katie is enrolled in a private school on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming, but her heart is with her sprawling family ranch in the state’s remote mountain region. Katy returns home to the ranch and soon become enamoured of a wild mustang filly she finds in the mountain woods. She names the long-legged ebony horse Flicka or “beautiful young girl” in Swedish. But Katy’s rancher father, the equally wilful Rob (Tim McGraw) sees nothing but trouble coming from the untamed animal and discourages his daughter from keeping her. Nonetheless, conflicted by a need to harness her own wild ways, yet stay true to a free spirit within, Katy sets out to break through to Flicka and transform her into a riding horse.

This movie was so touching. It has a great storyline and a great meaning to it. Made me cry every now and again. Would definitely recommend it to everyone!

This would be one of the best movies that I have seen in a while. Great storyline not too corn and some good messages in there for the whole family. For anyone who loves horse this movie is well worth a watch a little sad in parts but all works out for a happy ending.

Great to watch with your horse loving daughters. Was a fan of the Flicka books when I was a child and this film brought back fond memories.

Gorgeous scenery. 5 year-old got a bit sad...twice. Lovely story and nice performance by 'Vinnie' from Home and Away.
Nice representation of the book 'My Friend Flicka' - but it's been 25 years since I read it, so not sure how accurate!
