If you liked "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", then there's an excellent chance you'll like this as well. While this is more of a forgotten epic (mainly due to the first release being a shockingly inappropriate edit) than one of Sergio Leone's true masterpieces, it has all the style and passion of "Fistful of Dollars" and "Good, Bad, Ugly" and is a great watch, especially if you're interested in The Mexican Revolution, Sergio Leone, explosions or irony.

We found this to be funny yet poignant movie. It was sad in places, funny in places and lots of action. Lee Marvin is at his best as an Irishman escaping the troubles in Ireland only to find himself in the middle of a revolution that he was not wanting to be part of. All over a good movie that was everything we expected out of a Sergio Leonie movie.

Not a patch on the "spaghetti western" trilogy. Would be twice as good at half the length.

Not the best Leone western, though cinematically the links are being made for his masterpiece "once upon a time in America." Steiger overacts throughout this, but is a lovable character in the early parts of the film. I prefer "once upon a time in the west", and the clint trilogy, but this is still worth a look. It is a long film, so be prepared.
