Ferris Bueller. Larger than life. Blessed with a magical sense of serendipity. He's a model for all those who take themselves too seriously. A guy who knows the value of a day off.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off chronicles the events in the day of a rather magical young man, Ferris (Matthew Broderick). One spring day, toward the end of his senior year, Ferris gives in to an overwhelming urge to cut school and head for downtown Chicago with his girl (Mia Sara) and his best friend (Alan Ruck), to see the sights, experience a day of freedom and show that with a little ingenuity, a bit of courage and a red Ferrari, life at 17 can be a joy!

I think this is a film Id grow to enjoy the more i watched it. I think watching it for the first time, 25 years after it was made didnt help my feelings towards it. Matthew Broderick was great but in saying that the character of Ferris really annoyed me. A typical arrogant teenager. I can see why its a cult classic but it has nothing on a film like The Breakfast Club.

Great comedy classic which surpasses any teenage film of today. This is the ultimate teen fantasy about screwing up the system and enjoying the time they have together as youngsters but at the same time, sorting out the issues that conflict their everyday lives together. Great performances all round and the continuous narration by Matthew Broderick is just great!!!

What a brilliant movie! There aren't many movies you can sit down and watch with your kids without having to endure loads of foul language, over the top special effects, sex themes (or even worse, sex scenes) and gratuitous violence. This movie is different. It is good, clean fun! Watch it and enjoy.

Still as good as I remember it being in 1986 - a classic. Love the scene where his best friend "killed the car" such a sad end for the red Ferrari! Ferris rocks!

The three male stars were magnificent. What a total delight. A great PG comedy for all the family. The plot was just about believable. So it's possible to be entertaining and highly amusing without sex, violence, curses or smut! Great. I bought my own copy of the DVD today.

A classic (tongue in cheek) look at teenage years, with occassional issue tackling. Corrupted a whole generation.

This film is a complete farce of everything of value in a family or a teenager for that matter. It made both sets of parents seem like complete idiots – one set so blind they could not see and the other who loved his toys more than his family. It treated all teachers and authority figures as complete idiots. The boys and the girl are involved in lies, deception, theft and vandalism and nobody gets caught – nobody has to pay for the injustices of the day. This film is obviously aimed at teenagers and says basically, “Do as you please, you won’t get caught.” We have enough in our society to contend with when encouraging teenagers to develop into good citizens, without films like this which encourage them to be the opposite. As parents and teachers, we have found it to be a most offensive film and would recommend it be taken from your library and any other library where young people could access it.
