This remarkable film was inspired by Louise J. Kaplan's Freudian text Female Perversions: The Temptations of Emma Bovary. Following her triumphant turn in Orlando, Tilda Swinton is perfectly cast as Eve, a young, very successful lawyer. Her days are a tightrope act between extreme eloquence and frosty toughness on the one side and scarring vulnerability on the other. Her apparent elevation to the judges bench is interrupted by her kleptomaniac sister, who has been arrested. Eve goes to help her sister and while staying at her flat meets a young girl struggling with her budding femininity...

Four stars for WEIRDNESS. I think this film is about a mental ilness, most likely a schizophrenia?...

Slightly obtuse and difficult to follow. Interesting to see a young Tilda Swinton but certainly no her best performance. Was interesting but not a must see.
